It's the 'couple' thing that some of you sound you do better than me. Seven last night was a little below average for me. I'f I'm pissed of and caning it, I can do 10-12. For the most part I enjoy it and do it without making a twat of myself, or being at all rubbish to anyone else, which in some ways makes it a bit harder to get a grip of.

My brother probably has 6-10 pints a night (and only beer, no spirits/wine) but doesn't think he has a problem because he doesn't sleep with a bottle next to him for 1st thing in the morning.

I'm going to sit here and work out exactly how many drinks I'm having tonight. And then I'll reply afterwards with the actual figure if it's different.
16:24pm. Still at work at home. I'm going to get a can of cider and drink that right now. Then I'll have a quick smoke around 5 with another can.
Mate two doors down will want to go to the pub. This will be around 6:30. I will definitely have 3 full pints there. Maybe 1 for the road.
I will come home and chill for a bit with some music while I'm pissing about with food. That'll be 2 cans and a smoke.
Then probably another couple if I'm gaming/watching something.
So what's that then - 3-4 pints and up to 6 cans.
Let's see what actually happens for real.

I believe one often used recommendation is to aim for: - two alcohol-free days per week
- no more than 2 pints per day
- no more than 7 pints per week
What a sad life that must be. Nowadays, I sleep like shit when I've had more than 3 pints. I fall asleep OK, but wake up after 3-4 hours and can't fall asleep again for 1-2 hours.

Turns out the landlord of the pub has tested positive for covid. Brilliant. So the pub has closed and it's tests all round. So ended up just staying at mine and some friends came round. Beer count? 8 cans

I can’t do those sort of quantities any more, I can’t hack the hangovers. My problem has been frequency, find it far too easy to have a 1 or 2 drinks every night of the week

As mentioned earlier, wine is my absolute nemesis. Beer and gin I can generally keep to a couple (sometimes on the same night). But wine, it's so yummy and goes so we'll with food, that it's easy to rattle through a bottle whilst eating/cooking. That then gives me a wretched hangover.
Had our regular poker night last night on Punk AF though, winning.

On the rare occasion I take a night off, I'm out like a light and nothing and nobody is disturbing me. On a drinking night, sleep until I need to pee, lie awake worrying about stuff, then fall back asleep about half an hour before I need to be up.

Never usually get through more than half a bottle of wine as we’ll open one to share, I tend to cram in a martini or two before that’s opened though and that’s me fucked the next day. Wine is only the weekends though, that means I turn up for the club rides with a mad head and shot legs. I’ve backed right off the booze lately though, no more mid weeking it

Then only had white after I finished it. Feel like baggage, never cross the streams.

Whenever me and the wife share a bottle (not very often as she prefers white, me red, but she sometimes likes a red if it's easy drinking enough), it seems to go down faaaar too quickly. I always feel robbed only getting a couple of glasses. Bit sad that really isn't it.

That's why you have the back up bottle, never just the one with wine.
It's why it's so dangerous.

Partner actually surprised me last night by telling me she'd had a shit day and we were going to the pub. Had three getting ready, four in there, two when we got back.
And I've a full box in the kitchen so that's probably me going straight through until Monday now.

I find I just can’t drink beer anymore. Went off it a few years back, transitioned to red wine. Used to go through a bottle many nights, otherwise one would last two, three days tops
A few months into Covid I didn’t drink for like one days. Probably longest stretch in thirty years. Didn’t feel amazing, as is often touted, so went back to drinking. My mornings were more active, however
Now I’ve gone off the wind. Moved in with a lass who loves her hard seltzer. Thought it tasted like shite till I poured some cranberry juice in. It’s very easy going down.
One of the reasons drinking every night is it keeps hangovers at bay. If o get one these days then the days is a total write off. The headaches are unbearable. But not so unbearable that I’ve pretty much forgotten about it come the following evening.

I assume you're still in the USA but here in Brexit town there's load of craft beer now.
If you can get over the pretentiousness of it (hipster branding and stupid names like Gandalf's Elbow or Trench Juice) some of it is delicious.
You even get it on draft at a lot of pubs now. We've come a long way from 20 years ago when the selection was generally Carling, Fosters and the high end was Stella and Kronenburg.

I recently moved and the office license to me had a ridiculously good selection of craft beer. It's not even a hipster place, it's literally a run down looking, old fashioned offie, but happens to have a load of beer from smaller breweries.
Possibly helps that most are from Bristol breweries, there's so many small craft breweries here now it's ridiculous. Can easily do an all day tap room tour.

See, I like the craft beer explosion. But please, someone make something other than IPA. I don't mind it, not my favourite ale and traditionally preferred other ales, amber, gold and Best. Rare to see something at the craft end that isn't IPA though

IPA is the beer equivalent of a chef chucking handfuls of saffron in every dish to justify the price

Rather ipa's than the sour beer bandwagon though.
/boak
Some are ok, but most sours i can't get on with.

I like a good IPA but so many after boring, or actually crap and just over-hopped to disguise the shittiness.
Most IPAs just end up tasting the same, they basically end up occupying the same space as lagers do for me. Drinkable, but fairly forgettable.
That said, I do like some IPAs and lagers as session beers.
But I do tend to pick stouts, porters and sour beers more, or maybe a good saison. Just more taste. Though I do think sour beers are having a moment, so there's a lot of mediocre ones being pumped out now

Saisons are nice, the Belgians definitely know how to brew beer.
No complaints there, but some craft beer wanker bars up here have nearly half the beer list as sour beers (or did pre-covid when i was in 'em!).
Blech. Usually avoid most of those.

I’m not massively into them either, although I’ve had a couple of good sours and lambics the risk of getting a shitter is too high for me to bother.
Really want a bottle of saison DuPont now. Well, not “now”, it’s 10am. Might get onto beersofeurope for next weekend
