I’d be hyped for a new top down Zelda or Ocarina of Time remake at launch. I think a new Mario 3D entry is the most obvious though. Please god no more OOT! It’s done

I'm calling it now: SwitchVR, with MarioVR, ZeldaVR, SplatoonVR and KartVR.

Hey, a Zelda VR would be an excellent excuse for some exercise... Then some Mario VR for jumping jacks

I wouldn't mind an OOT remake if they make it better. It doesn't really hold up these days imo.

Maybe they can re-re-release OOT, but with raytracing.

I feel like the condensed Hyrule and classic dungeon structure would feel fresher now in the wake of BOTW/TOTK than at any other period.

Isn't Teardown kind of similar to that? Without the nuclear bomb on a rail thing.

I don't know, I want a new Blast Corps, but obviously not enough to find a spiritual successor. Will have to check it out.

It's similar in the sense that you blow stuff up in order to fulfil some other objective. It doesn't have any of the side races and such that Blast Corps had, but those were always a bit rubbish anyway.

Blast Corps looked pretty rubbish from the screenshots back in the day, but when I finally got a copy I got really into it. I love those kinds of games. Lowball expectations that flip so quickly they become ingrained into memory for all time.

There have been rumors of an Ocarina of Time remake for ages. Personally I'd love one, but mainly so my kids can enjoy it as the original is just a bit too old-style for them.
I'm not sure how much I'd want them to change, other than updating the graphics though. And adding the ability to save anywhere.
My son is playing through Windwaker at the moment and I'm amazed how well it holds up. Still looks lovely.
We're playing the GC version though, so it's definitely not easier or shorter than TotK. It can be a bit obtuse in terms of what you need to do next or where you need to go, and it has the usual Metroidvania issue of things being locked until you find an obscure upgrade, but you're not sure if you can access it now or need to come back later, and when you do get the upgrade you can't remember all the places you needed it.
TBH, the main faff is all the charts. If the WiiU version streamlined some of that then it'd be much easier and faster.
He's currently after the triforce shards, which means he needs the triforce charts and needs to get them translated and so needs the upgraded wallet. But one of them is on the Ghost Ship and he hasn't found the Ghost Ship chart yet. Too many charts.
Personally I bounced off TotK hard (though he loved it and put in hours before Windwaker). It has too much junk. Windwaker is better, but too much busywork filler. OOT is pretty much perfect for me.

It's easier if you've played it before I guess. I do remember getting stuck a couple times the first time through on GC.

The switch was the first Nintendo console I never bought. I can honestly say it’s not bothered me once. However a switch 2 with backwards compat and upgraded specs does strangely appeal to me now. If the older switch games actually fall in price a bit (I.e. Breath of the world is still £40 preowned everywhere which is ridiculous) I will probably partake…. ….then never play it It's never bothered you that you've missed out on some of the greatest games of this or any generation? It's arguably my favourite console of all time, even though I don't play it as much as my PS5, when one of the tentpole games are released I'll cane it. It's been so good.

Bill in the rain the HD version did at least reduce the number of Triforce charts you need, and it also has other changes that make getting around easier (the Swift Sail for instance). I think you still need the larger wallet though, and I'm not sure if that's still on the Ghost Ship or not

Not at all and I was a massive Nintendo fan when I was young (still prefer sega though). I’ve owned everything from the nes to wii u (apart from virtual boy). I think I just stopped enjoying Mario games and Zelda isn’t a system seller for me either. The switch 2 with backwards compat is very enticing though as I’ll be able to cherry pick a lot of older games and get the new stuff too. Missing the switch 1 generation has actually made me quite excited to buy a switch 2 👍

Interestingly enough just last night I was watching an episode of The Sopranos from season 1 and this was the game the kid was playing in the episode. I told my family what game it was. No one responded.

I'm not sure if we'll get an OoT remake anytime soon, or even if the game needs one (unless it's a proper reimagining, but Nintendo doesn't really do those), but I am surprised that the 3DS remaster wasn't at least ported to Switch in HD as it's the definitive version now.

The wallet upgrades aren't on the ghost ship (Afaik) but he got those from various Great Fairies. But you need hundreds of rupees to get Tingle to translate each chart.
There's a triforce shard on the Ghost Ship, but he needs to find the ghost ship chart to find the ship (apparently).
Luckily he already has the Tingle Chart and the INcredible chart that shows where the Triforce charts are. Talk about Chart overload!

D'oh, I misread "one of them is on the Ghost Ship" as talking about the wallets and not the Triforce charts, my bad 😅
