Yeah it's unsettling. I remember when the old forum closed there were all these lurkers saying they'd miss the place and the posters. They'd just been in the shadows watching the whole time.
And then this place they just settled back into their watching.

Actually, some of them created accounts and became semi-regular pains in the ass posters. (Well, at least one that I know of  ) |

I sometimes check the forum on a device that doesn't sign me in or I haven't bothered to put my details into (already can't remember my password!) so I'd look like a lurker at those times.

I have wondered why we didn't get many trolls signing up here. Seemed a weekly occurrence over at EG with Spartan and a few others.
Guess because we have active mods here.

I played a bit of Life is Strange last night to see what it was and can now almost understand why people watch games instead. It was very slow and I was paralysed by indecision over choices. I think I'd much prefer a film of it all rather than rewinding to check every possible option as I've no idea if my choice will screw my game up or not. Also I guess watching people wouldn't be the only way I'm going to see the latest Doom games as I'm too slow these days it seems (or at least not suited to the in your face play style they have now). |

Play on easy. Not sure about Doom 2016, but Doom Eternal also has loads of cheat mode options in it so you can pretty much tailor it to your needs as far as I remember |

I've only got the Switch (and now Stadia) and when I played it (on easy) I was okay until I got into the first arena. All the mobs swarming and firing fireballs from every direction with limited ammo and I was dead a few times. I got passed that but at the next one, I realised it wasn't for me any longer.
I used to love OG Doom and played hundreds of hours of it, but the latest games seem to be arena and jump scare heavy and also insisting on close up kills to get health back. I was always a kill from a distance or in your face with a shotgun in some corridor and the new ones don't seem to have that so much.
As I say, I'm not so good at games these days and no longer like the edge of the seat adrenaline of nearly dying all the time. I like being all powerful and wiping out hordes of demons with a chain gun
