I don't think we'll see that beaten. 2.5 pubes and I will personally apply the mustard to you

Bet EG are kicking themselves not keeping the forum now. Just think of the money they could have made, they could have even got a sponsorship deal with Colman's.

ResetEra just sold for $4.6m. Guess now we know why user neilka was so eager to be the one to get this place up and running so quickly. Not bad for 4 years work... Has to go down as a massive swindle. By 4 years of work, you mean 0 years of work? Everyone who 'works' there does so for free lol. Owner literally airlifted GAF mongers, did nothing for 4 years, and made 5 mil.

Did EG even try placing ads in their forum at all (filthy adblocker here)?
I don't recall ever seeing any at any point and would be surprised if they didn't try it to get some sort of impression count or something.

What ads would be appropiate for a gaming forum though? Deodorants?

If they wanted targeted advertising though, games, tech, fixodent, ED etc

I bought Ms Shark some frilly undies on my work laptop a while back. Now when I’m having a grim faced meeting with someone who sent me unlicensed copy I’ve got to hide all the shamelessly erotic ads.

Honestly... Eurogamer doesn't seem that bad with its subscription package... Especially as some of the money goes towards the journalists who do good work on occasion. Now compare that with Resetera with its $3.99 per month (or $39.99 per year) subscription package... Where none of the money goes toward the users / mods. www.resetera.com/pages/membership/I know that there are some parts of the internet where people are congratulating Cerium for how he profited from the site... But something about how that site's founding "community" principles were ultimately subverted for selfish individual gain just doesn't quite sit right with me. Even Bobby Kotick wouldn't do anything that dishonourable.

Again I don't think an article about a food critic as has been posted this week is really the sweetener to get me to sign up for a subscription.

I was just trying to say how absurd the price was for Resetera in comparison to what a proper journalistic outlet would charge per month - where the comments and moderation are largely kept civil. And where people aren't on a power trip.

I wasn't long ago that people were all "I can't believe they're posting articles about he colour of their turds, why aren't they out doing jurnalisms?!" And then they posted a massive two parter on the impact of gaming on the planet, yada yada. And I didn't see anything in here about it? I mean, it was a specious point they were making but it was exactly the sort of thing people had been asking for, Shirley?

I used to read it all the time and still do occasionally. With things like EG I generally try for the 'glass half full' thing that I have just grown out of it and its not really for me anymore rather than bemoan a lowering of quality.
I mean, Viz has not been as funny as it used to be for 30 odd years.

Assuming this is Nickthegun, it always stuck with me when you said on EG that your mate downloaded loads of amputee porn on your laptop. lol
