I’m at the gauntlet of Shar and have just killed that thing down there for Raphael . Normally I wouldn’t help him but I feel I owed one to Astorian after making him drink that dodgy blood at moonrise . I’ve changed the way I’ve been using him a bit based on advice in here. So rather than a mobile dual melee he hangs back in the shadows with his bow scoring critical hits. So far so good.

Thinking of starting a 2nd play-through. Karlach or Dark Urge, you think?
(I somehow totally avoided Karlach 1st time round)

What the fuck is the battle in the House of Grief? . Feel like I've gone back to being level 1.

If you're going to commit to an evil thing, Karlach will not be on board (though there's a few fun ways to preemptively deal with her before she gets fed up with your bullshit) But if the urge tempts you, you can still do that without committing to evil. A lot of the Durge prompts can be resisted, though there are still a couple of "what the FUCK did I just do" surprises in store.

I accidently killed a lot of people. I feel bad, but have no idea why or how it happened. Shrug.

Finally did Halsins questline OK. First attempt at defending the portal was a bit mad but you realise it's not about having to kill them all but to repel them. Really satisfying moment of Gales thunderwave pushing quite a few of the bastards into the lake. So now Halsins a party member and I can see why people play Druid now, looks fun.

So yeah the House of Grief fight is tough. Massive gank squad vibes. They'll get murdered one way or another though.
I was chatting to a colleague about this game and he completed it in under 50 hours. I was very disappointed in him. I don't even know how that's possible.

I mostly leant into the shadowy pricks being vulnerable to radiant damage. So just had Shadowheart cast Spirit Guardians and stand at the top of the steps. Most the pricks just ran into it.

Did anyone have an issue with the pedestal of reckoning? I’ve two gems in there and 3 in my inventory. I try to interact and I just get the same dialogue and the only option is ‘leave’. Elevator not working.
Sounds like a bug, and seems to be some solutions suggested online but wondered if anyone here had found anything that worked.

Yeah, she can handle most of it on her own. All you really need is someone else to take care of the ranged attackers, and the portal will be fine.

Now that Halsin is a party member, I do admit I like having him in the party.
The defend the portal questline though I just used Wall of Fire. It made that whole section quite easy to be honest.
Positioning in this game plays such a big part. There was a moment at the end of Act 2 where everyone was cramming through a small door and entrance way and it was a cluster fuck. Area of effect spells were really playing havoc on my party and allies.

Yes. Choke points + AOE spells are hugely OP.

House of Grief is done. Once you figure out how to control the room it’s not so bad. That quest though, sheesh.

I just realised that an NPC I, uh, accidentally killed, would have given me a powerful item perfect for my class.

I found it easier than Moonrise Towers actually, which I *really* struggled with. But I think Moonrise Towers is also probably the point I started learning the importance positioning and using your environment and hit a steep learning curve all of a sudden.

I kind of want to re-load all my previous "final saves" and see the epilogue for each character I made.
There's also a major performance improvement in there. Which hopefully stops it from chewing up my CPU in a confusing way. Apparently it was permanently checking all NPC AI against all possible crimes you possibly committed at any time. Which goes some way to explain why if I stood still in an empty basement it was still running at 80% CPU for no fucking reason.

Being able to rearrange the inventory of everyone while in camp without having to add them to the party is such a fantastic QOL improvement.
