Think the console versions of DOS2 were meant to be pretty good. I can't imagine that it will be graphically inferior, so I guess it just comes down to whether you are happy playing a game like this on a controller.

Why on earth would you put yourself through playing this with a controller though? Seems like madness. Well, the combat is fully turn based. So as long as there isn't too much faff moving around outside of combat, I don't think it would be too bad. DOS2 was fine with a controller imo. |

We don't have a thread for this but the release is looming for this seemingly (controversially so) juggernaut of a cRPG. Are you getting it? Do you already have it on early access? Must admit that personally I'm getting a bit swept up in the hype coupled with some wierd rpg discovery tip I'm currently on (playing PoE FFS). I live near Ghent, where one of their studios is based. A guy I used to work with is now working at Larian and was asking for playtesters on hi LinkedIn last october. So I took a day of and went to their offices to play BG3 from 9-5 one day. I'm not much of an RPG player. I played a few (Dragon's Age something, Divinity Original Sin) and I always feel like I'm somehow doing it wrong. Rather than commanding a party of characters with complementary classes, skills, powers, etc. I always feel like I'm managing 4-5 random guys/gals and when we run into enemies, it descends in a spam-attacks-fest. That aside, I had a good time, received a T-shirt and a free early access code for the game. I played through the opening chapter with 3-4 different classes. Once it launches, I'll have a go at it again I think. |

Thats how i generally play them as well. Picking chars which are most fun to have around not whether they synergise with everyone else unless there is some cool stuff when that happens (like in Tyranny, they can get combo attacks). and then when enemy appears: FIRE EVERYTHING! So you are not alone! |

LOL, exactly the same, pretty clueless, more so with what appears to be proper D&D rules front and center in this game . No way anybody would ever join my adventuring party in real life, all slaughtered within the initial tutorial mission  |

I might be able to get it down the tubes for Friday evening, but even that might be tight. Nope. They have said that the changes are too significant, so you will basically be re-downloading the full thing anyway.

I've only played 2h of the game.
Gonna back up the current versions to see how it was changed compared to the proper one...
Happy to hear that they took into account ultrawide monitors. Hate when game ignore UW.

Yeah, I'm aware. I'm hoping they open the floodgates for downloading a little early because starting a 120gig download at 5PM I'll only get an hour or two in before bedtime, and that's assuming GOG's servers can deliver.

Think I settled on a first character.
Maybe a bit boring, but not knowing anything about the game or what party members I'll get I figured I might as well play something I know fairly well and that can be a hybrid.
I realised I have no idea what's happened to DnD between 3.5 and 5e. Haven't played tabletop since my early 20s and I don't think there's been a proper cRPG since... NWN2? Guess there might be some things to learn.
