Having grown up with one most of my early life, but then never having one in my own accommodation as an adult I today took delivery of my very first personally owned magazine rack. I feel it’s an anachronism but much like owning an actual iPod and requiring a CD player in the car and an actual hard disk on a computer, it’s not something I wanna let go. Anyway, it fits perfectly in the gap betwixt sofa arm and wall but have now realised this is our small dog’s bolt hole, her safe space for when the fireworks are on. The fireworks haven’t been on recently so I forgot this bit. Now feeling a bit conflicted as I’m guilty about this but there’s nowhere obvious in our small living room where it can live. The rack not the dog. Unless I do the selfish thing with the rack in which case I mean the dog. When the fireworks are on. Incidentally we hate fireworks in this house. Edit - if anybody is on the market for a nice magazine rack, it’s this one and I would recommend it to a friend, if that friend needed a magazine rack and liked wicker. It’s really nice and is wide enough to hold two standard sized rows of mags stood up in each compartment: Woodluv Water Hyacinth Newspaper Magazine Holder Storage Rack Stand With Carry Handles (Made from Banana Leaves) amzn.eu/d/aA3cUwNJust make sure you don’t need the space for pets to hide from firework sounds in.

It's all face recognition nowadays, fingerprint scanners are so yesteryear. Face recognition works for unlocking the phone, but the issue is that all those financial/banking/payment apps and websites all require logins on the phone, and all have really long secure passwords, and now every time I want to check if a direct debit went through or send someone $2 I have to manually enter a 20 digit password on a phone keyboard like a neanderthal. Face recognition doesn't work for those apps.

So replacement arrived today, it's either not compatible or is faulty so that can go back. Anyway that prompted yet another search whereupon the old one was found clear as day in the utility room next to the sink, we both must have walked past it about 15 times since Saturday.

I turned on the face recognition and the fingerprint sensor started working. Not sure what that says about my body.

Oh god it's a video from that cave troll Asmongold. No thanks. You should look at a video of how he lives if you can stomach it.

I have a lot of icons pinned to my start menu that are very similar shades of blue, and two thirds of them are round as well, Steam, Skype, Discord, Thunderbird, Adanced System Care, Samsung Magician, Knowte, Dopamine, Photoshop, etc.
Even after they've all been in the same place for years now and I've tried to arrange them in such a way that other, different icons act as seperators, it still takes me a minute to figure out which one is which when I should have remembered by muscle memory by now.

I know what you mean about the blue ones. I have the same issue with more work related ones. (Discord, VScode, Jira, SourceTree, Joplin) are all blue, and Jira and VsCode have very similar icons. And why does Joplin's icon look like 'd' rather than a J???

When you get hit hard on the shin or somewhere equally painful, hard enough to bring tears to your eyes and bring out a sob, and think to yourself “that’s going to leave a massive bruise”.
Then days go by and nothing.

PayPal.
Specifically PayPal Credit.
I want to pay off my agreement in full (there is no penalty).
It took over a day to appear as gone from the PayPal balance but…
…it’s not even registered at the bank yet! And I did this on Thursday morning.
So me being me with spending I keep looking at my bank, thinking ‘yes maybe I will treat myself’ and then having to remember that I need to keep this not pocket money sum of money in and that it’s a massive false sense of security.
Apparently they use the cheapest transfer service available, but yeah if you ever use this watch out for this.

That's like me with my new vanguard account, every transaction I know takes several days to go through yet I keep checking at least twice a day like it's going to make any difference.

How the fuck do takeaways manage to consistently make your chips cold and your chicken burger hot enough to burn the roof of your mouth

What's cooked first, the chicken or the chips?
A question as old as time
