Klopp is the 10/10 choice, Southgate feels like he's dropped down to a 4/10, we were the jammiest of gits to get to this final with him.
If we stick with him we'll get knocked out by the first good team we face at the next World Cup, I'd rather we have a chance of winning it.
Poch's probably our best realistic option, Potter wouldn't be much of an improvement but more likely to get the job.

The big difference now compared to any time before, is that we are not technically inferior to any nation. Our footballers can play one touch, front foot, pressing and possession football with the very best. We need a manager that knows how to actually do that. We've never had one, and Southgate is a product of his experiences. Great leader but not a great tactician. I do think they are still lacking technically. I feel that they always look uncomfortable when receiving the ball under pressure, whereas you don't see that with Spain or Germany. Personally the only time I see a lack of comfort is when they don't have a pass on because the spacing is wrong. Stones, Saka, Foden, Bellingham, Rice, Mainoo all press resistant. Just need them closer together. Spain didn't look so good the few times we actually pressed as a unit, but we barely did that.

Those calling for Southgate to go: who would you like to replace him? I think Gareth's man management plays a big role in how the team plays. You may get better tactics at the cost of team spirit. Uruguay have just finished a tournament so their manager might become available. I’ve heard he likes attacking football and is a decent fellow to boot.

And so ended England’s experiment with playing Palace players.
And that was the only folly the people of England ever embarked upon. Except for the popsicle stick skyscraper. And the 50-foot magnifying glass. And that escalator to nowhere.

Team selection and tactics have a big bearing on that, the players are going to look uncomfortable when there's no pass on because Kane is a passenger and we have midfielders treading on each others toes rather than creating options.

So no bank holiday then... It was never really on the cards! I do wonder what the appropriate celebration would have been, guess we'll have to wait for England winning the World Cup in two years instead...

England with Bielsa would be doomed to fail but it'd be hugely entertaining at least

That’s what I said earlier, you could see the issue with your eyes even without that stats It comes down to a technical weakness in possession. England players are good at different things, controlling a game is not one of them

Ach that’s a shame lads. Honestly.
Relieved England didn’t win but genuinely disappointed for you lot in here as you’re all decent guys. Other than you know who…

Poor Harry. Maybe he really is destined to never win a trophy.
He was clearly not fit and didn’t suit the way Gareth has us set up, but he’s still a top quality player. Sure he’ll score 30+ goals again next season.

England being a tactical shambles is the reason we can't string passes together, we have a hatful of technically very good players scraping results for us.

If his next season is as good as this one was in terms of stats but he still doesn't win a trophy, I'll start thinking that he was actually cursed by some faerie in the fens as a baby

That's not the sort of consistency that wins you games against that sort of Spain team, which I think is one of the key differences.

Aye, but but most of our opponents have been utterly dire and sat back.

Not sure I agree with the 'Kane was a useless passenger' argument; he scored three goals this tournament. Compare that with England's other forwards. Yet Bellingham, Saka, and especially Foden didn't get as much criticism. I'd argue Bellingham was missing from the quarter final onwards.

Kane's a great goalscorer but his lack of mobility cost us a passing option and meant we could never counter attack effectively.
We would have probably been a better looking team with Watkins starting.
