Seen it raised elsewhere but given that game journalism have had so many layoffs across a lot of sites, they just simply won't ignore coverage on a game that's projected to sell tens of millions of copies.

Sounds like the class room stuff is fun in a few different ways and how's it's integrated into the main story line. Lots of customisation options for clothing as well and items have various perks to change your stats. I'm going to create a Hermione but who is the slytherin type. I didn't notice in the review I watched how much your character can choose options of dialogue if at all.

So Hogwarts Legacy is engorgio-ing my fancy and took a peek at the Deluxe Edition benefits.
Paying them for 3 days worth of earlier than the masses bug reporting… erm no thank you!
When did this become a thing, early access for the rich but stoopid crowd? I kinda get the point for MMORPG style games (for the competitive clowns) but for SP games?
Oh well good luck to em *shrugs*

/does not support JK trans comments but also feels freedom of speech is just as important a right and strong views are not necessarily a reason to totally deride someone - underneath everything we are all humans - society can only function and evolve through discussion - she is wrong in the details but not necessarily wrong from her perspective as an individual and in balance has given so much more than she has taken back away imo

It's not just early access. There are some cosmetics and the Dark Arts battle arena.

It's the old seperating the art from the artist thing again isn't it. Only this time we're one step removed as it's not like she sat down and made this game herself. Does it deserve to be ignored? I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks her views are just, but the world she created is beloved by millions and this game actually looks decent (not for me I think the whole HP thing is fucking crap but the boy is keen and has a stack of christmas and pocket money saved).

Im sure thats the way for most people (although her being a piece of shit is bleeding through the barriers) so you cant really judge people for playing it. I wouldnt touch it with a shitty stick now or at the very least would donate to mermaids to salve my conscience if I absolutely, positively had to play it.

Fair play Warrender.
It’s £15 or more ($20+) difference in the UK which seems a lot for a few cosmetics / mount / arena which likely clipped off the main game build for the deluxe deal… but the early access thing with the prevalence of quick and easy internet spoilers seems like a cheap shot imo to more bucks. But sounds like they have delivered a great game so fair play to the extra revenue.

I read the IGN review of Hogwarts Legacy. It's bizarre. To summarise it, "The story sucks, combat has really bad enemy variety, the menu/inventory management sucks, its technically bad and often pretty glitchy and here's an inset about how the original author is a bigot...but I like Harry Potter sooooo 9/10"

I'm glad it's good! Been looking forward to it for a while. Is Rowling actually anti-trans? I thought she just said if you're born as a female that's different from being a trans female, which it is. I'm sure I've missed something and don't wish to offend anyone, but I don't see any issue with what she said. But the game is nothing to do with her anyway. I don't really think you have missed anything. I'm yet to see anything that she has said that is completely heinous. I read a number of links shared in a review or two there again this evening because I honestly feel like I'm going a bit mad with this. It seems to me that lots of people say she's a bigot and as such everyone else feels they need to also echo this. She's certainly not 100% aligned to the most left leaning thinking in this area but I don't know, I just can't see huge extremist views in what she's said.

I have no interest in Harry Potter or the films. This game has also never been on my radar.
I just watched the ACG review and the game world looks so good. I am really tempted to pick this up now as soon as I have completed my second Dead Space run.
May just wait for Digital Foundry review first perhaps. I have heard of some issues of performance, but nothing too bad.

She is a dangerous cunt because she has massive reach and horrible opinions. Probably not that much different to most other almost 60 year olds but not as many people listen to them. I've honestly looked to find some of this stuff every time she comes up. I tend to think most of you here are sane so I feel I must be missing something but I just can't see it, that said I'm not forensically reviewing her post history just looking at some of the articles summarising some stuff.

You don't really have to look hard to find the shit she says and the kind of people who support her takes. She's fully entitled to her opinion and also for many people who found solace and safety in her writing are now entitled to see her as a cunt who's giving validation and a voice to a subset of people who would rather that a tiny, tiny percentage of the world's population not exist. If you ignore the trans stuff then, fuck, you can have a field day with just the stuff in her books I mean the awesomely antisemitic trope of goblins being in control of the banks is one zinger.

Rowling has also become extremely chummy with figures from the far-right in her crusade against the trans community. This includes anti-abortionists, which is a wee bit strange for someone claiming to be a champion of women's rights. This video covers that pretty well

It’s also just kind of bizarre. She could have gone off and quietly been a billionaire and kept her legacy intact, but she’s firmly nailed it as the hill to die on at the expense of how history will ultimately treat her. Though she remains a billionaire so doubt she really cares all that much. Same with glinner, only without the billionaire aspect. Father Ted, Black Books, IT Crowd etc are now tainted by his grievances.

I think "inability to shut the fuck up on social media" has poisoned a lot of reputations.
It's like, you have your money, just go off and quietly spend it. Preferably to do good in the world.

Yeah for me it’s just as much the company she keeps and the signals she boosts. She probably thinks she’s being a moderate voice of reason, and she keeps her own language fairly bland and open to some interpretation. But she likes and retweets some absolute arseholes, and doesn’t acknowledge this no matter how many times it’s pointed out to her.

Despite not being a Harry Potter fan at all (even before the book's author problematic and/or questionable views came into the spotlight) I must confess to being weirdly excited to actually play this game.
I think it comes from the fact that I've been looking for a game that comes close to Canis Canem Edit (or Bully if you prefer) and the unique enjoyment that that game provided me with nearly seventeen years ago.
I do realize this most likely means I will end up disappointed as I doubt that HL is what I'm hoping for but I guess we'll see...

The end of the line for any derangement like this is aligning yourself with nazis because they agree with you on a particular issue.
Who then immediately stab you in the front because they hate you, too.

Can I choose to run around in my underwear and do you get arrested if you wave your wand about? You sport a very fetching pair of long John's complete with arse flap, and so far you can fire off spells as much as you like and no one cares.

He's let some misgivings transform hits entire life and personality. Sad really. I'm just not seeing that so much with Rowling, though I haven't watched the linked video someone shared there yet so perhaps it would be more obvious then.
