So Frasier returning has been on the cards for a while but a new cast member announced today comes as a bit of a surprise... Nicholas Lyndhurst.

I can't wait for Frasier to call him a stupid plonker.

Haven't liked Lyndhurst in anything other than early Fools and Horses

He looks like someone's mum who decided to become a lesbian in later life.

He really does have the most boring face in existence. My eyes just slide over it.
If I had to draw it from memory it would just look like this:
O

I'm watching Frasier for the first time now, I'm up to season 8. I have briefly entertained the idea of going back even further and watching Cheers from the beginning, but... no.
Also, if only this were real:

Lyndhurst worked as Rodney as he was playing a dope. He's as wooden as fuck.

Remember when he was in adverts for WH Smith’s? No coincidence you can’t buy a book of stamps there nowadays without receiving fistfuls of promotional coupons for stuff they need to flog to stay afloat.

Should reboot Only Fools and Horses with Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce.

He looks like a Blobfish.
Anyway, not to derail the thread or anything, but one of my favourite lines in Frasier was when Niall was talking about Frasier having dated a number if women from the same extended family:
"He went through that family like a recessive gene."
I don't know why it tickles me so much but it's stayed with me

It might be good but having a character that’s ‘boozy’ just sounds shit.

Never really watched Frasier, but recently tried the first episode on All4 and instantly was onboard with it. Want to watch the rest but can't be arsed with the adverts on All4.
I see that it has recently come out on blu-ray in the States. Can be imported through Amazon.co.uk and is supposed to be region free, but seems really expensive at £130. Any word of a UK release, which would hopefully be a bit cheaper?

It might be good but having a character that’s ‘boozy’ just sounds shit. Cheers ran for 11 record breaking seasons 30 years ago and I wouldn’t say boozy was a character trait of any of them either no matter how much they drank. Did Norm drink a lot? Yes, boozy? It’s not what comes to my mind.

I don't know why it tickles me so much but it's stayed with me The one random line that has stayed with me and still tickles me is when Frasier is moping around his apartment after a breakup and Niles is worried: "What is going on with you Frasier? You are showing all the classic signs of depression" "... that's because I am depressed, you twit!!" It's the delivery of the line that makes it. Sadly I can't find a clip of it anywhere.

That one word in a paragraph seems to be doing a lot of heavy lifting for you.

It's not exactly a clever line by the show's standards, but like I said, it stayed with me.
