That must be a typo/mistake when the recommend GPU is an RTX 2070 not exactly a ray tracing powerhouse.

Sounds like they can't be arsed optimising it, tbh. Perhaps related to the streaming the consoles can do that PC hardware/software is just about catching up with?

I just done see it, I fully expect the ram requirements to come down to 16 near release. Although I could be wrong seeing as the PS5 version has an internal resolution of 1080p.

I think the devs said via Twitter that 32GB is only a requirement for some super-uber-fancy RT mode, rather than across the board. Might have my wires crossed there though.

That would make sense, I think the PS5 uses ray tracing for GI or something like that so if it's something stupid like full path tracing then 32gb would make sense.

It is very good but only if you are happy with roguelike. It's a turn off for some.

I really need to get back to this. Fantastic game when you start to get in the zone, but the rougelike elements can definitely piss you off.

Started this yesterday. Oooooozes atmosphere. Real Alien/Prometheus vibes. Really good couch game - can see myself enjoying it a lot.

Played this to death on the console and found it very difficult. Might be a tad easier with k+m... The DF dude that did the tech analysis on this (Alex Bataglia, sp?) reckoned so, yeah. Said he breezed through the first three zones without a single death whilst collecting B-Roll footage. Which pissed me off, because - although I never really committed to the game - I never beat the first boss.  |

Wow. I managed the first boss after a stupid amount of hours and called it a day. Worth another look then. The actual gameplay is outstanding and looks stunning for anyone thinking about trying it.

For a game that is very enigmatic story wise, for me the story is much better than some of the overly exposition heavy guff that gets served up as 'decent storytelling' in video games nowadays.

So I had my first go at boss #1. Was doing kind of ok then got 1 hit killed which was annoying. Also went into the house for the first time. That was weird. Apparently if I keep at it I'll be running through the whole level in no time, which I hope is true as it is fun but I don't have much of an attention span these days Ah man Returnal is one of my personal best games ever. It’s not necessarily about how far you get into it, but more that you enjoy it. It’s a game designed to be played and played and played. My advice is relax into it and see how you get on. It also prominently features my favourite song of all time so it gets extra points for that. |

I guess I should channel all my souls experience of not getting frustrated with dying and repeating What’s the best combat basics then? Keep moving, dash a lot? I’ve just got the sword so I guess I should also be making use of that. When I made it to the boss last time I was predominately using the carbine, but might try the (what I assume is a) shotgun equivalent this time. |

Put this in the ps5 thread
And use the sword to close the space. Helps to be aggressive rather than picking off from a distance. That was the biggest learning curve for me.
