HBO MAX has the first episode of the show freely available to promote the show, over here it's on Sky's YouTube channel.
Be a little ironic if the YouTube version is 4K unlike what Sky offers with streaming but I've not checked.

I’m up to episode 6 now. One of the best things you can do is try forget the game as the series takes characters from it but very much does its own thing with them. Motivations and situations sometimes differ. In general though it’s basically nailing it.
Because I’m watching on a pre-production version the CGI in some scenes is really ropey. I’m sure it will get sorted before actual TX but I’m going to have to watch the series twice to get the full experience.

It may well not be the second game. There is quite a significant time jump between the 2 games.

Granted but Ramsey is already 19, you probably won't be seeing this till maybe late 2024 early 2025 and is Ellie is 19 in the sequel. Also I believe the series covers the first game, my money would definitely be second season mirrors the second game, perhaps only half of it seeing as how big the first game is.

Part II is likely to be split over two seasons, they're not going to be doing the intervening years between the two games other than what's already there with the flashbacks and stuff so no season two that's just the next year or anything. They aren't trying to make this last forever like TWD.

then best wishes to whoever it is that will be cast as Abby. Her voice actress, Laura Bailey, received death threats against her and her newborn at the time it came out. Abby is still a pretty reviled character, broadening that out to a wider TV audience...I just hope they don't have social media. |

I was a little disappointed, maybe due to the hype on here etc. Thought they nailed the look of the game and the opening episode/museum section brilliantly done.
Something just feels a little "off" all feels a bit wooden and forced. Hopefully as it goes on they grow into the characters a bit more.
For me the best bits where actually the opening chat show scene and the flash back I ep 2.

I’ve already seen comments from idiots about how they can’t use Abby because of her “unrealistic physique” that no woman could ever have. If she could act then the wrestler Rhea Ripley has pretty much exactly the same muscle build. If they wanted a giant Australian Abby anyway. I think the bigger issue would be that to make it work as TV you’d have to tell the stories in parallel which might spoil some of the surprises and discoveries along the way. |

Shannon Berry keeps cropping up as a possible Abby, not seen her in anything but looks wise she certainly fits and at 21 is the right sort of age.

Are there really people who say that? The first game explicitly says he’s gay. Really good episode tonight. This is exactly what I wanted this show to be. An exploration and filling out of the backstory of the world and its characters, not just even quicker runthroughs of the scenes already shown in the game. |

What a great episode, most likely the biggest departure from how it is in the game that we're likely to see in the whole season but I'm very okay with that.
Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett were absolutely fantastic.

Have to admit I had a few tears during that episode.
Wasn’t a total hit at work - a few of my gay colleagues complained about straight actors being put in gay roles. I really don’t have an issue with it.

I really enjoyed that and thought the changes they've made worked well. I'm actually very impressed with how restrained they've been adapting this for the screen; giving the story and characters lots of room for development with plenty of quiet, thoughtful moments, without forcing in action scenes simply for the sake of it.
Brilliant episode.

At least with this there's less chance that they Game of Thrones it, what with the creator being one of the main guys behind the show too. Though it would be quite GoT if they bumped off their main character after the first season. |

Wow. I'm absolutely floored by episode 3. Just fantastic. Two of my favourite actors just being amazing for 60 minutes.
