Have to admit I had a few tears during that episode. Wasn’t a total hit at work - a few of my gay colleagues complained about straight actors being put in gay roles. I really don’t have an issue with it. It was only one straight actor TBF. I mean I get it, I really do, but fuck me with this episode the level of acting for me was not dependent on the sexuality of the actor. Offerman brought so much to that role it was unbelievable. Fuck I need to watch it again it was so affecting.

That was really really good. I’ve been avoiding this thread in case of plot spoilers from the game (which I’ve never played- Xbox guy), but on a brief back-read it seems I needn’t have worried.
With Andor last year and now this, I’m really enjoying prestige TV with weekly releases. It’s nice being able to watch and then read/hear about each episode weekly as it comes out, rather than one big drop. Except bloody Americans need to shut up about it for 24 hours so we can catch up on Monday night.

I thought that was a lovely piece of story telling. I see it's IMDb rating is the lowest of the season which is a shame (although not Important).

Beautiful episode and I really must remember to dust sometime. I too was thinking about dusting as I was watching it. So much dust.

Fantastic episode. I think it’s doing something quite special.

That was superb, very moving. Does irk me that the actors playing the roles aren't actually apocalypse survivors in real life but they were convincing enough.

I'm glad they went brave with that, shows they will stick to their guns for the 2nd game.
Lovely change of pace.

Really enjoyed that episode, this is the kind of thing I was hoping they would do in high gameplay sections instead of just turning it into an action show. Not sure how I feel with Ellie taking the gun though.

Was a great episode, and love how they're expanding on and changing things from the game. Even though I'd really have loved more Bill. Especially as Offerman was fantastic casting.

Oof, right in the feels. Felt like an expanded, apocalyptic version of the Up opening . They're doing such a good job with this. Love that they're sticking so close when it matters but having the balls to spend an hour and 15 on developing the new as well.

Just watched the first. Wasn't expecting Anna Torv to show up in this, big Fringe fan so pleasant surprise.
Bella was good, confirming my theory that the part for her was rubbish in GoT.
The opening scene was brilliantly done and a bit devastating. Even knowing what was coming my pulse was elevated and I was on the edge of the seat. Other half was worse, having no idea. That young actor should go far, she's superb.

I liked her GoT character. She was a legend.
Haven’t seen Catherine, Called Birdy yet but I hear it’s very good.

She was shit in The Worst Witch. She seems to be growing into the role in this though.

She wasn't great in His Dark Materials either but the character was a bit off anyway so maybe that was as directed. In this she's incredible.

I really liked her in GoT too. Her character was a bit underused though.

Have to admit I had a few tears during that episode. Wasn’t a total hit at work - a few of my gay colleagues complained about straight actors being put in gay roles. I really don’t have an issue with it. I would patronisingly suggest they listen to the HBO podcast. The creators talk about how that was also important to them but ultimately the couldn't get the guy they originally wanted as Bill. They also point out that Murray Bartlett is gay, as are the director, the writer and the editor of the episode.

Another great episode. I would have liked the main chunk of the story to have been shortened a bit though but had no real issues with the changes in the story. I think playing the game five times lessened the impact of what happened though.

I actually think the impact was greater for me, they expanded on the story in the perfect way imo and tweaked the outcome so that it hit much harder.
It helps that the actors were incredible.

In the context of the episode it’s pretty clear even Bill isn’t exactly confident about his sexuality and has been presenting himself as a straight man all his life. I honestly don’t think you have to have lived that experience to reflect it on screen. To be fair these are colleagues who would prefer to be sat in front of Below Deck so I’m going to say the series wasn’t going to be their cup of tea no matter what.

Yeah I was going to say that too. It actually works very well given his insecurity. No shade on Below Deck though please. TEAM CHEF BEN.

So yeah it's been confirmed by Druckmann that season 2 is based on Part 2. Man, that's going to be interesting.

Mid season break for first half and then focus on the 2nd half of the game maybe.

Part 2 is much better in terms of combat and it's story is still excellent but 1 is pretty much perfect for me and it didn't take 742 hours to complete. Part 1 10/10 part 2 9.5/10
