I wonder if someone higher up is selecting whether a player is the live squad or the shadow one and that’s why his answers are both vague and definitive at the same time . Pretty sure Boehly and the other bloke are the puppet masters. Need a Ratcliffe style overhaul, minus the lunchbox nonsense.

Jokes aside that’s actually quite nice to see and some vindication for levy and the way he runs the club.

I find Chelsea's self inflicted difficulties endlessly fascinating. They currently have 33 players over the age of 21 and can only register 25 so if the deadline was today (rather than 13/09) would have 8 players they can't register (just as we did with Ozil before finally giving up and paying him off).
Even if we assume that three of their six goalkeepers will get loans and assume Lukaku going back to Italy in some form before is bound to happen, they would still have to shift four more players by then. You'd think rival Directors of Football will have noticed and will time any bids accordingly. An entirely avoidable situation Chelsea has seemingly stumbled into and only realised in mid August.
Re: Sterling, he's had five managers and they've signed about 25 more players (many in his position) in the two years since he joined as Chelsea's 'no1 transfer priority'. It's pretty much unprecedented to go from top dog to being told you will play zero minutes in two years, even if we ignore the fact that he's actually been quite good considering all the chaos. It's not been two years of gradual deterioration of his squad role, it's been two weeks since he was firmly in his fifth manager's plans to being totally ostracised.

Also not too long ago Spurs fans were laughing at Arsenal for Wenger balancing the books. How times have changed.

Every other Prem club needs to leave Chelsea twisting in the PSR winds, and leave it till transfer deadline day to submit sub par bids if they really want the players (and not just trading between the game the system clubs) they will be forced accept.
They can only sell so many hotels to dig themselves outta a hole of their own making

Maybe Chelsea could consider loaning some players to Aldershot Town, we could use a bit of a boost after a middling start to the season, we're not far away and we've got their old pitch so some of the older players may even remember it...

Fans are gonna be fans, but I think most see the similarities in the way the clubs are run. You’ve just had a lot more success on the pitch than we have so we’ve got to find something It was more vindication against the constant levy out nonsense.

They can only sell so many hotels to dig themselves outta a hole of their own making Hadn't thought about internal group loans. Anyone know the legal situation there? If they haven't found an alternative before the deadline, could Chelsea essentially force Chilwell, Sterling and co to accept a loan to Strasbourg or use their refusal as grounds to terminate the contract? Is there a precedent for a player refusing to move to a 'group' club on loan?

I'm saying this as we (NFFC) had Harry Arter not playing sat on £40k a week for at least 3 years when others have been pinged off to Olympiakos (admittedly, they were better players). Either way, it wouldn't help the financial side, as Chelsea would still be paying the wages.

Napoli are meant to be after Lukaku but need to sell Osimhen first and I can only think of one club who might spend the €130m they want

City are clearly the best run club as they can make expenditure disappear.
Not sure why they want trampoline shins when they already have an excellent striker

Not sure why they want trampoline shins when they already have an excellent striker Because they’re managed by Antonio Conte is probably the most straight forward explanation

They were talking about him having signed a new contract with a 130 release clause in it on the Euro Leagues this morning - essentially because he’s the most saleable asset they’ve got to fund Conte’s desired spending spree. But because he’s been injured and/or bad since winning the title no one wants to meet valuation.

What on earth has he done to get sacked by the BBC, who sacked neither Saville or Edwards?

Merino deal is finally agreed, which is good news, but not wildly exciting. Although Arsenal becoming just about the tallest and most physical team in the league is going to be properly weird and hopefully kind of fun.
