This is immediately not true though as they overturned the Everton penalty. It's certainly not a case of clear and obvious so even in the weekend where they're least likely to look inconsistent, they've still managed it. If the ref called that as a penalty I honestly don't see how on earth they justified overruling his call based on what happened. I wouldn't have been upset had the ref not given it but once he had and you can see there is contact I don't understand why or how a review was triggered. Not convinced. Dunk isn't putting a tackle in - he's blocking - and his foot is going away from the player, until DCL steps on Dunks foot. I can understand feeling it's not a penalty BUT is it a clear and obvious error or enough to question the "REFEREES CALL" (TMTMTMTMTM). No, Dunk slides int he box and catches the player, ref felt it was a penalty in real time. I can't for the life of me understand why it was overuled

We are still the worst team at selling players apparently. Pellistri, who is only 22 and played every match for Uruguay when they came 3rd in Copa America, away for 6 million.
That's the best we can get? Arsenal turning down 25 million for their rejects lol.

He might have played a lot for Uruguay but he is still poor. We're never getting more than that out of a Greek team either, their record is about 6m.

Yeah selling to them we were never getting much.
Always thought there was a player in there though. Didn't do a great deal in his very limited chances though, and we have too many wingers.

He averages a goal or assist once every 8.4 games across his club career. He shouldn't be anywhere near a team that says it wants to qualify for the champions league.
Wish him the best of luck but won't miss him at all.

Exactly, he had his chance, he wasn't good enough. The end.

I'm sure that'll end well. It's not like there's a meaningful difference in their profile and ability. Essentially arbitrary squad apartheid.

Links of Sancho going to Chelsea are so funny to me. He'd absolutely love getting paid playing FIFA all the time under everyone's radar because there's that many Chelsea players already

That they have a full squad of unusable contracted senior players is very much an absolute mess, I don’t know who he thinks he’s kidding

He really needs to re-load a previous Chelsea save.

Maresca on Sterling:
"I'm not saying he's not a good player, but I prefer different kinds of wingers."
I guess that's Sterling off then.

I’ve genuinely no idea if Sterling is good or not anymore.
I wonder if the smart move would be to try and go to somewhere like a Brighton or Brentford and be a Welbeck style old head in a camp of younger players.
Watch him end up doing nothing on loan at Everton now.

Never really rated Sterling myself but that's pretty rough.

Sterling should go back to Liverpool.

I hadn’t realised Chilwell was getting the Sterling treatment as well. Now there’s got to be a market for him.

There's got to be a market for lots of Chelsea cast offs, but they've surely harmed their chances of getting anything like their potential value. Pretending it's fine to have 20 players on upper PL wages stuck on the training ground whilst their agents brief against the club isn't going to fool prospective buyers. They will get desperate at some point, just as we did with Ozil and Auba.
Unless we plan to sign another winger, I'd like Arsenal to try low balling them for Madueke. Failing that, a deadline day offer of a season long loan to cover 50% of Sterling's salary could be a nice last minute bridging deal whilst waiting a longer term option to become available.
Can't see anyone in PL offering anywhere near his full salary or matching his contract length on a permanent deal. Even as a free transfer that represents a sizeable gamble.

What would Sterling add to Arsenal?
He'd run into the box and then?

What would Sterling add to Arsenal? He'd run into the box and then? We need one more to allow us to rotate Saka and cope better with an injury or two in the forward line. He's a very good player still, just has to wash the Chelsea off. Arteta has worked with him before and he'll be desperate to prove a point. He's not a 'problem' player despite what the racist tabloids would have you believe. The detail will matter of course but if we can get him on the cheap for a season he'd be a great short term addition to the squad.

Sterling played all of pre-season and Marcesca spoke about how important he would be this season. Utterly bizarre all around.

I wonder if someone higher up is selecting whether a player is the live squad or the shadow one and that’s why his answers are both vague and definitive at the same time

Basically saying he doesn't give shit about them lot not in the first squad. I can't imagine Bohley is happy with him describing his sellable assets as pontless.

He's not a problem player and does a job but he lacks an end product. He's 70% of a Saka I suppose. The other 30% being end product 😊

Considering Sterling’s representatives were quite vocal, there is no way in hell Arteta is going to risk disrupting the team by having that sort of player in his squad.

He hasn't been treated overly well though so you can see why he is pissed off.

It's not all bad, Chelsea will stroll the U23 league with the 2nd team they have...for the next 5 years given the contracts they are on
