I had a feeling selling Smith-Rowe would bite us in the arse. But what can you do. He wants to play first team. Now it’s up to a 17 year old and switching various players…

Great. Odegaard out for a few months. Bloody internationals can do one. Usually 8-12 weeks for ligament damage.

Not exactly PL news but Zlatan is doing hot ones, should be an amusing watch.

It’s not ideal, but I’d rather be without Odegaard at the start of the season than at the end. That’s about as positive as I can be.

Seeing a lot of "no quick fix for Spurs" headlines today and they're rubbing me up the wrong way. We've been at the top end of the table for a number of seasons now, not relegation fodder. We didn't need fixing per se, but more pushing onto the next level, turning into challengers.

At least this gets the injury crisis out the way early as we were due one. Hopefully that's how it works and this is as bad as it gets. The thing that bothers me is how unreliable the club are at discussing injuries and providing accurate estimates. Disinformation is used as a tactic to hinder the opposition's prep, which is fair enough, but it does make fans fear the worst. We basically have no idea whatsoever when to expect Merino, Odegaard or Tomiyasu back. They've not shared much more specific diagnosis or time frame beyond 'quite bad'. Could be 1 month, could be 6 months. Tierney has not even been mentioned post World Cup with his latest injury. I get that he's not in the plans but I it doesn't seem wise. You'd think they'd be talking him up a bit to try and sell in January unless there's an acceptance he's reached early retirement levels of perma-crockedness.

Spurs are clearly aiming to be a consistent top 4 side, but that is an incredibly tough ask. So in a sense there is no quick fix for that, and I'm not even sure it's achievable but what do I know? I still find it absolutely unbelievable that they got to the Champions League final! I keep having to remind myself that that actually happened.
I don't know that Ange is the person for that but again, what do I know. It seems like Villa & Newcastle and at some point Chelsea are far better placed.

We have been in decline since the end of the Poch era though and Mou and Conte took us in the wrong direction. League positions haven’t been terrible but honestly, Kane and Son carried us for a lot of that time. Kane is gone and Son has been out of sorts for a while now. We are building a young team and it’s going to take some time. I get the frustration, but I think starting again right now isn’t an option. We are trying to build a base for sustained success. Trying to do that against City, Liverpool, Arsenal et al is not easy.

I wouldnt be too concerned tbh. If they're fucked then they're fucked, knowing about it doesnt help us. Pretty confident Merino will be back as anticipated, but would definitely like a date for Odegaard.
We were always going to have to do without Odegaard at some point, but losing him 4 games in because of fucking international duty is about as infuriating as it gets.

I think there's also an element of that Arteta/Edu would have worst case scenario situations, when they sorted the business in the summer. They clearly rate Nwaneri fairly high. We've got plenty of options.

Anyone else watched the Netflix doc on Jlloyd Samuel? I’d somehow managed to miss the story at the time, pretty mental stuff.

Trying to do that against City, Liverpool, Arsenal et al is not easy. There are now eight teams who feel they should be in the top four so they'll always be four who consider themselves somewhere between crisis or rebuilding. Spurs have never looked as broken as Man Utd or Chelsea or Arsenal. Have arguably a better platform to build on than Villa and Newcastle. Just seems like some decisions were taken with unsuited managers that have had knock on consequences. Not that this means that it's easy to improve by any means. It takes a while for these ships to turn. Unless you have billions and can afford to fail fast like Chelski used to, it requires about 2-3 years of consistent good decisions.

And that's really difficult to achieve. No margin for error at all.

Too easy for Chelsea, West Ham applying no pressure at all there.

West Ham are more open on the break than we are.
I hope this means WH are shit rather than Chelsea are good.

Never like to see fans leave like that. Regardless of team or what’s happening. Have been amongst that at games but would never follow them out.

Not his biggest fan, but that was an incredible save by Onana.
