Aye. Even the likes of Adams and Terry didn't really come through until 20/21 or so.
Looking forward to seeing Calafiori play. The way he carries the ball out of defence will be a big plus for us.

Lisandro (Martinez) is the Lisandro Al gaib...silly.

I've been reading Merino won the most duels in Europe's top seven leagues last season. Oof. I can certainly see why Arteta wants him, it's another player who can bring control and help us suffocate teams when we're pushed up to the halfway line. It's really only the wider picture that bothers me as we're not hearing much else right now. For the summer I thought the priorities in order were: - Partey out and a younger player in who could play 6 and allow Rice some rest or to play 8 when it suits. - a properly pacey wide forward who can rotate with Saka, Martinelli, Trossard, Jesus - a left back who can invert or go wide, and importantly is not an injury liability Feels like we've only done the third one, and whilst I'm pretty excited about Calafiori, we've now got 5 left backs (Calafiori, Zinchenko, Tomiyasu, Timber and Tierney) each with more than their fair share of injury history (2/5 currently injured). Hardly panic stations but there's still work to be done.

My guess is Merino is a slightly extended stop gap until the right CM can be found. Agree re a wide player though. Even if Jesus will do some of that, we are still very reliant on Saka. All this talk of the CBs not being able to play every game and yet we expect Bukayo to do exactly that.

Merino played with Odegaard if that’s any consolation. I think they’ll be a great partnership.
I don’t know how much money we have with considerations for FFP. We bought Raya as well, so that’s another 30 odd down the pan. Eddie seems to be going and Smith Rowe. I would think we’d be getting a replacement striker.
Also expect to see Nwaneri break out this season.

I'm still kind of hoping that there might be an Ozil or Odegaard-esque opportunity to ease a wing forward out of Madrid as they have five world class players for three positions. Rodrygo or maybe more realistically Guler on a loan with option to buy.

Fulham with Smith-Rowe and McTominay will be a midfield to be feared.

NUFC in talks to sign Guehi (Ornstein). Taking their time to do significant business either way.

Chelsea have apparently informed Conor Gallagher he can't train with the first team as they are looking to force him to sign for Atletico.
Classy way to treat an academy product, or anyone.
I hope Atleti drop their offer by a few million now.

I’m surprised they could offer that much.

He is the father of my son as well, I will be much cheaper to pay off than her.
I wouldn't even ask for an AstroTurf football pitch

Then finding out it's not even the best goal scored that day...

I suspect Arsenal will have a poor start, a bit like 2021 and the anxiety will build, especially if we lose at the Etihad in week 5. Perhaps that's fair enough given we know 90+ points are required.
From the corresponding fixtures in recent seasons, 8 points from the first five games would be about par but you'd imagine it's equally possible that City or Liverpool will be on 15pts, so I'm braced for people saying 'the league's gone' by mid September. Hopefully all the big clubs have a post World Cup hangover and we get upsets across the board. In that scenario our "tough start" fixture-wise could be a positive.

I expect Man Utd to be shit. It's easy. We're shit. Man City are cheating cunts that aren't shit as a result of cheating. Arsenal are not shit. Liverpool are not shit. Villa are not shit. Tottenham are Tottenham. Chelsea are Chelsea. Newcastle don't know what they are. Shit team finished in this shit position that's neither shit enough to be the shittest of the top half or shit enough to be in the second half. Shit. West Ham are shit. Crystal Palace are not shit. Brighton are confusing. Bournemouth hurts my brain. Fulham might not be shit. Wolves are annoying cunts who fuck everyone else up but are still somehow shit. Everton, poor Everton. Brentford are almost as confusing as Brighton. Forest are probably shit. Leicester Southampton Ipswich There full summary of the league.

Hopefully now we are back in the UK we can concentrate on getting a couple of signings over the line. We are definitely light up front and an upgrade/competition for Bissouma would be nice. Two positions that are not easy to fill though.
