Happy to see Greenwood move on, 31.5 million Euros is more than I expected. Massive sell on clause as well.
Mayor of Marseille trying to stop the deal now though so it might be stopped yet

I see Man City have also pried another £15-20m out of Ipswich for another unknown. All the while we've got 2 players with International caps that we can't give away. Wages are part of it but I don't understand really.

The club may not be bothered by what he has to say I guess. Will have to wait and see.

I suspect Fulham will pay around 50 for Smith Rowe.

Watched the Arsenal Vision patreon member scouting video of Calafiori last night. For these they go through about 30mins of video 'actions' pulled from a paid scouting platform. You end up chronologically and systematically going through league games in a way that shows when a player was involved good or bad. It's nerdy but miles better than YouTube comps for getting a rounded view of a player. I've watched a lot of these that they have done for players we've been linked with and normally they temper the hype. Calafiori's is one of the most impressive I've seen and had the opposite effect. He's comfortable 1v1 as the last defender, press resistant and comfortable with the ball at his feet, can turn and dribble the ball out of defence and has great anticipation. Steps in early and is very front footed rather than backs off. He can cross and make progressive passes, he can play CB, LCB or as an inverted left fullback or overlapping fullback. Just looks like a textbook 'Arteta player'. Only real issues were he doesn't look as comfortable when played on the right flank, and occasionally gave the ball away in a dangerous position whilst trying to be positive. At 22 with only one season in Serie A plenty of room to improve though.

On a related note, I watched their Zirksee scouting video in January when we were linked with him.
Think Man Utd are getting a good player if that one happens too. He also seemed very Arsenal tbf. Looks so elegant with great technique, brilliant first touch, beats defenders effortlessly and misses chances.
Probably will have you swooning then howling with frustration moment to moment, which is very much our jam at the Emirates.
I guess the fact that Havertz subsequently claimed the role of tall, elegant and wasteful Arsenal forward killed our Zirksee interest.
Closest Man Utd comparative I can think of is Berbatov. I don't think Zirksee will be as prolific or at that level yet but he should have room to improve too. Fans will likely need to be patient.

We have already had both players he can't get in ahead of in the Dutch team. Weghorst and Depay, what could go wrong 😂

Weghorst was a bit underrated for us. Sure his goals were not there at all, but his link up play was miles better than Hojlunds. 10/10 pashun too.

He pressed well but he was completely useless as a main forward. Running loads means nothing if you couldn't score in a brothel.

Weghorst was there to score goals, which he did absolutely fuck all of. He was rated exactly what he was, a failure.
He tried hard but that's not enough.

It does seem a bit like Man Utd are obsessed with Dutch football. It feels more like Ten Hag is a symptom of this rather than the root cause. Are the Glazers a quarter Dutch or something?

You know it's bad when the narrative turns from critique to outright sympathy around a player. By the end of his stint with us people were almost setting up a GoFundMe to pay an opposition keeper off to let a premier League goal in for him.

Van de Beek on his way to Girona. Bought for £35m. Sold for £500k. Perhaps the most ineffectual player I've seen in a Utd shirt.

Looks like we're getting €8m off Lazio for Tavares (after a loan). Plus sell on. He was fun, I guess.

Very interesting that the statement says all parties have “reluctantly” agreed that the time is right for Staveley and Ghodoussi to sell up.

Thought so, you're not exactly giving them away I don't think are you? 🙂 I imagine we would take a relatively modest amount, given their experience. Perhaps similar to amount to a defender that Billa signed from Chelsea...

Wasn't Nketiah supposed to be the next coming?

He's a good striker - great finisher with good movement in the box. But that's all he is - his link up play improved but he's a box player really.

If Nketiah had played exactly as well as he has for us but at a team like Fulham, and was on Fulham wages, he'd be worth £35-40m.
Sadly that's not the case and I think we'll be lucky to get £20m, and I'd take that.
Smith Rowe really should be worth far more. If we don't get an offer of £40m odd or a bit lower with sell ons, we should loan him out (because of the above). He's better than Iwobi and Willock and should go for far more than them. I don't think his wages are as big as Nketiah's either.

Chelsea just handed out another 8 year contract. Hasn't that loophole been closed?
