Hopefully 35mil + 20mil for Champions League win + 20mil for Balon D'or is enough to get the deal done.

Yes, plus everyone sees Man Utd coming. There's a history of them eventually paying the full asking price.
We have the same problem when selling. Clubs know that if they just wait, we'll let players go for free.

Hopefully this is the end of just waiting all summer and then paying the over inflated fee.
And 35m isn't that bad. Everton want 70m, we go with a low offer and then eventually meet somewhere in the middle.

We are not a good example of a team that can get around regulations. That would be one of the state owned teams. Man City (presumably) yes, but I'm not sure what rules PSG and Newcastle have gotten around? PSG have been punished for indiscretions, and Newcastle appear to have stuck to the laws in place, albeit begrudgingly. If Newcastle's sponsorship deals arent bending the rules then they're even more of a farce than thought. The whole takeover was a pisstake with flagrant rulebreaking that was ignored, we're meant to believe the Saudi Investment Fund isn't connected to the Saudi government.

The impression I have, and I’m happy to be corrected, is that Newcastle’s Saudi sponsors are paying closer to market rate than City’s do but more of them are essentially shell companies who didn’t really exist before the takeover.
But yeah, its essentially the same cheat move.

I've not said you're getting around regulations; I've said the regulations are broken, which has enabled Manchester United to spend recklessly without investing in the club as a community asset.

He's definitely worth more than 0.44 of an Antony.

That type of signing and money is what I'm hoping the new guys avoid.
Has to be up there with one if the worst ever.

Meanwhile Arsenal are selling Reiss Nelson and Forest are one of the interested parties apparently. £20m for a 24 year old who has played 450 minutes in the last two seasons, I'm not exactly snapping your hand off. Tell me I'm wrong Gooners?

We are a viable business, that's all. We csn spend recklessly cause we make a shitload as a viable business. Yes we were lucky to be successful at the right time when the Premier league was created but we created that business. You're getting us confused with some loaded state funded or billionaire sugar daddy club. We aren't that.

How much is he worth when there have been about 15 defenders in history that have gone for more than 50. 3 of those shouldn't have been over 50 as well. Which side did Mustafi fall on…

Tell me I'm wrong Gooners? He's got Saka in his position. He's Premier League level for sure and I can see a scenario where you could sell him on for a profit at that price. A run of games will do him a lot of good as his career has stalled a bit. He was the best regarded academy talent of his generation. I'd be happy to keep him if Arteta would actually play him more often but it's obvious at this point that he won't. Think he'll also be more effective in a more counter attacking side with me space to run into. I'd have thought could suit all parties to get that one done early July.

He's Arsenal's Elanga. Not quite good enough, but needs to actually play games rather than be a squad player. The type of player that will probably thrive elsewhere.

That sounds about right. He's got the talent but I do worry about his application a bit. £20m for a youngish player from a CL club seems almost standard these days.

Should drop down the bottom of the table, they want 70m for their youngsters.

Sad news indeed, it's a cliche that xx is no age but it's even more shocking to me when he was only a month older than I am, far, far, too young.

I see Rodrigo Bentacur has indulged in a nice bit of casual racism, complete with "sorry Sonny, was just a bad joke!" as his apology.

When Arsenal sold him I was old enough to be aware that one of our heroes had gone, but not really old enough to understand any of the context so I just felt a bit betrayed. No one was running around the playground at my school pretending to be Chris Kiwomya (sorry Chris).

Reports that Ten Hag has said Man U's leadership informed him that they did talk to Tuchel, but ultimately kept him as they "realized they already had the best"...
Hubris, noun: (1) excessive pride or self-confidence. "the self-assured hubris among economists was shaken in the late 1980s" Similar: arrogance, conceit
(2) (in Greek tragedy) excessive pride towards or defiance of the gods, leading to nemesis.
(3) That Ten Hag quote

There's really no positive that can come from all this crap. It's the equivalent of the dreaded vote of confidence. He's basically dead the second results start getting scrappy. They wanted to fire him and shit themselves because we won the FA Cup and now we'll be back to square one by Christmas. They've been really poor as part of the ownership so far.
