I've largely kept the faith the entire time.

The rest of them jumped on it as well though, a quick Google search will show you how many did.
Anyway I'm happy to see him get another year.

I'm sure the press are just fine tuning the apology pieces before publishing them.

Reports of a new contract too. That seems a bit far at this stage. I'm pretty sure that's for added click bait for the future because I think we have an option to extend his contract by a year anyway. Think and pretty sure, not have and certain, words these "Journalists" need to learn the definition of.

I mean United definitely tapped up at least two managers and I don't think it's unfair for reporters to speculate on what that means for ETH. I think they clearly wanted him out and rightly so, he's been terrible.
I do agree that football journalism is a cesspit of rumours and sensationalism though. It seems you get a free pass to make stuff up for clicks.

I suppose more than keeping ETH the big thing will be how supportive they are in letting him have a clearout and bring in more players who fit his style.
You can’t be a modern footballing machine when there are players who were signed five or six managers and four or five systems ago.

We'd be stupid not to look at our options (which were obviously all shit) and he would also be stupid not to do the same after that shower of a shit season. What grates me is the constant bullshit dragging on click bait stories, it's revolting.

It would be nice if he started to implement his Ajax style rather than the shite we had to endure last year. He says he hasn't got the players for it, but then the squad needs gutting to get the right players for it. It would be suicidal to try another season of the style that was attempted last year, it's just far too open.

He did change it right at the end to a 4231 which looked like it had some potential. It's not a formation I love but it's what we had to play with the players we had.

Well the story goes that ETH will have very limited say in transfers now (no bad thing), so not sure how that is going to aid him into playing like Ajax. The whole, not being able to play like Ajax is moot anyway. That team had so much talent like De Jong and De Ligt which grew up playing there together, it wasn't some miracle brought about by ETH.
But I think it's fine. Sure a top big name manager, and a few top drawer signings would be better. But that's not happening. There's not many top managers available, we have fuck all money to spend, might as well let ETH ride it out for another season. And if it's shit again, get rid of him.
We have been so awful, almost hard to watch, for the past season and a half. But winning trophies does you the world of good.
I do think ETH has heart, so not unhappy to see him given another chance. But fucking hell he has so much work to do. Parking the bus against City to win the cup is one thing, but we can't do that every week. There's a lot to work on, as tactically we have been woeful for ages.

No. You think we would be worse if we had signed Rice, Bellingham and Kane? I think you are confusing big signings, with terrible signings.

Newcastle’s sponsors being accused of involvement in modern day slavery of immigrant workers is not something I had on my bingo card
Oh wait, there it is

Ndombele is gone then. Such a shame he seemingly hasn't been able to make the most of his talent.

I think we should have a decent chunk of change this summer based on what I've seen and with the outgoings/contract expirations.

Ndombele is gone then. Such a shame he seemingly hasn't been able to make the most of his talent. He worked just hard enough to get a big money move and contract and then decided that would be it. It is a waste of talent though, if he had applied himself he could have been one of the best mids in the league.

The daily mail have just reported it as 50 million so if we just keep waiting for newspapers to make up random numbers we should be at 80 million plus!

Based on everything else I've seen and heard from reputable sources (the athletic etc). the number isn't 200 million but it seems extremely unlikely it's 35m. Closer to 100ish+ before outgoings.

Maybe it's £35m before 30th June and a different figure for the following PSR year.

At the very least, it makes sense from a negotiation point of view to underplay your available funds, even if it is bollocks.

Yeah, Woodward declaring we could outspend everyone was such a good idea. Leading to paying 80m for Slabhead.
