Speaking of edited content, I randomly watched an episode of Ren & Stimpy on Comedy Central last night. The Sven Hoek episode if you’re interested. Why anything should be cut for a show slotted in at 11pm is beyond me, but they decided to remove the section where Ren threatens to rip their limbs off. Just… why???

Was Eerie the one where they did a Stepford Wives story but they all slept in tupperware?

These shows are also the reason I still slightly hate Wimbledon since it always wiped the schedule clean of my programmes.
Admittedly I didn’t really understand the concept of tv seasons at the time but it was still totally Wimbledon’s fault I couldn’t watch TNG

Yeah it was all present and correct back when we watched it on its original broadcast… and even when it was shown on Nickelodeon after that.

The worst part of Wimbledon is that each day after it's chewed up the schedule with live tennis, they then hog another hour with 'Today at Wimbledon'

Not only that, but my mum would also listen to it on the radio when we went on holiday (which always coincided with a bit of Wimbledon, Oldham Wakes as it was called).
Who the fuck listens to tennis on the radio - ridiculous. pap pap pap clap, pap beep 'out'. Utter codswhallop.

I remember Channel 4 showing Angel in the 6pm slot and totally destroying it with the edits. Episodes were regular 5-10 minutes shorter than they should have been. They ended up moving it to middle of the night on Friday and, I think, it ended up moving to channel 5 for the last couple of seasons. Channel 4 didn't treat American imports particularly well. Recall they ran The West Wing in the middle of the night too. They also skipped two full episodes (demon pregnancy and possessed kid one in season 1) at the time. Farscape also skipped a whole episode (a one where the crew were on some sort of drug IIRC). |

Buddy got anything racy or gory edited out of the 6pm version, but I believe they also had a 10pm broadcast with everything put back in.
Just as well because especially towards the latter series she’d regularly be getting impaled.

Can't remember now if it was BBC2 or Channel 4, but I vividly remember that the week Princess Diana died, they changed which episode of The Simpsons they ran because the scheduled one had a specific reference to her in it (Barney: "Hey! That looks like Princess Di! Aw, wait, it’s just a pile of rags.") but the one they changed it to was one they were then forced to make an edit to as well.

Yeah.. I was thinking that maybe I'd misremembered it being at 6pm, given how much sex and death there is in it.
Isn't one of the episodes of season 4 basically Buffy & Riley boning each other so hard all episode that it causes some kind of demonic event?
Maybe I dreamed that one...

You did not dream that one. Unsurprisingly, that episode got heavily edited. I think most episodes just had the odd line or injury detail shots cut, so weren't massively effected. |
