They showed Buck Rogers in this slot for a while - I used to have nightmares about an episode with some flying pancake-like alien things. Bidibidi?

Wasn't Liquid TV on that time slot too, I'm half remembering it being on before the early season of Buffy on a Thursday.

I seem to recall watching a lot of MASH in this time slot. It was probably early/mid eighties. Loved it.

Were The Man from UNCLE and Get Smart in this time slot as well, way back, or am I getting mixed up?

Then I’ll come right back at you with David McCallum’s Invisible Man.

We used to have this discussion back on the RPS forums as well. BBC2 6pm was the best time ever. All the good star treks. Buck Rogers, Galactica (?), Buffy, etc.. Farscape was 6pm, I think it was bbc2? I thought Babylon 5 was too, but it couldn't have been if it was competing with DS9. Did Channel 4 have that one at 6pm? Aeon Flux was weird as hell to be in that timeslot. I was really sad when I came back to the UK and found out that BBC2 6pm is just full of junk these days. Sigh.
[edit].. man from uncle...
Did they have Mission Impossible too?

I remember it going to Channel 4 and them editing the fuck out of it. I just saw the one where Homer becomes the sanitary commissioner, one where lots of characters say "wanker". On the BBC2 edit I remember they changed the word wanker to a grumble, which okay is less funny but at least makes sense. In the version I just saw (sure it was channel 4, might have been sky) they literally just cut the whole bit, but halfway through the scene. So you had the scene, it would get to the wanker line and cut it right before, in two different scenes. It makes no sense! I remember Fresh Prince getting away with Jeffrey saying wanker a few times too. I couldn't believe CH4 edited out Barney drinking paint thinner.

I remember Channel 4 showing Angel in the 6pm slot and totally destroying it with the edits. Episodes were regular 5-10 minutes shorter than they should have been. They ended up moving it to middle of the night on Friday and, I think, it ended up moving to channel 5 for the last couple of seasons.
Channel 4 didn't treat American imports particularly well. Recall they ran The West Wing in the middle of the night too.

FFS do none of you remember Monkey? Loved Monkey. I have it all on DVD including the final series that was never aired on UK TV, it mostly has the same voice actors too. Burt Kwok et al.

I remember a show called Eerie Indiana after tea. Might have been a C4 effort though.
And of course TNG was the ultimate 6pm show. Bliss.
