It's got to be tough when your security apparatus is trained to look for unusual behaviour and "royal fans", the kind who buy all the commemorative plates and voluntarily join five mile queues are, by definition, a bit... you know. It'd be like if all us video game nerds spontaneously left our mom's basement and gchq were tasked with spotting the nervous loner fiddling with his backpack.

Would be interested to know what makes MP's and their friends have the right to dodge the queue even though they aren't working at the moment.

If this last week has proven anything it's that some people are just better than others.

They could probably just say it's because they're better than us and we'd lap it up, given that we're in peak serf mode currently

The wait time is currently 11.5 hours. For that length of time I’d be expecting to be able to take an actual piece of the queen home with me.

I'm desperately hoping that people turn up to the funeral in full costume. Everyone except Andrew Tbf, if Andrew came in costume he would be sweating profusely.

If you were in charge at Westminster Hall, you'd be tempted to crank up the heating during Andrew's stint, just to test the sweating claim.

Queue is actually going down now, people are bored already. I read that as "Queen is actually going down now, people are bored already" and thought they were lowering her into a pit of flames or something.

I was thinking about recent climate protests during a F1 race and during the tour de france, this place seems like it would attract anyone wanting to make a statement.

So they're closing the queue for 6 hours.
Are we now getting a queue for the queue then?

Serious question though, why haven't they got a digital queue running? They release time slots every few hours, and you go online to register your interest (eg mash a button) and you get alloted a time. They could have a separate walk in queue for the martyrs, weak of mind.
Disney could do it. Could even have a gift shop at the end for commemorative mugs and stuff.

If they did that then there would be no queue. The queue is part of the story now and makes it ask seem more important than people turning up for their spot.

Security: they are doing a finger tip search of each bag, then x-raying it, and airport scanning each person too. No liquids at all.
