If they did that then there would be no queue. The queue is part of the story now and makes it ask seem more important than people turning up for their spot. If you want to get really cynical they might have even considered a ticket system but decided against it as this is great optics. Look at how mournful we all are. Look how many want to pay their respects. |

Controversy over MPs being allowed to skip queue
A row has broken out over who is allowed to skip the queue to pay their respects to the late Queen.
MPs and members of the House of Lords do not have to queue and can take four guests each to the lying-in-state.
The majority of Parliamentary staff can also avoid the queues - but people working for MPs must stand in line.
Cleaners and security guards employed by contractors in Parliament must also queue - prompting claims they are being treated as "second class citizens".

Now that I work from home most of the time, coming here has replaced talking crap with colleagues. I used to feel guilty staring at my phone for ages during the workday, until I realised I probably spent just as much time having non-work related chats with others in the office.

They could have a separate walk in queue for the martyrs, weak of mind. Disney could do it. Could even have a gift shop at the end for commemorative mugs and stuff. With priority mourning. |
