Apart from having to listen to my missus's ramblings about it I've not experienced any RF nonsense whatsover, I haven't watched the news on the TV for years, I'll look at the BBC website in a week or so, I do listen to the radio World Service quite a bit in the car but again I'll just tune back into that in a few weeks. Frankly I wish I could block this thread on FG. You can just not click it. I think if you can't manage that, you can mark it as read for a length of time of your choosing.

Aye, I've managed to tune it out too aside from this thread. Any news apps that let me rearrange the homepage have had are maj news dragged to the bottom. Fuck watching live TV for the next week.

It's almost like a competition now isn't it. Every company out-mourning the next. It's fucking ludicrous. Why does everything have to shut? To pay your respects? You can pay your respects and continue to work you inflated cockade of cunts. Good. Every other company making it a bank holiday has forced my work into the same thing. \o/

Is NOBODY else’s YouTube bukakkeing endless Royal news at them? Had to bat another eight videos away today, apparently there’s literally nothing else happening in the world they could inform me about.

I'm having to click on all the alt right, Sidemen and flat earth videos just to break the algorithm

Are they promoted channels, perhaps?
Not a single ERII related video on my YT recommendations. Sorry.

To be honest I need to stop coming into this thread, as I'm actually able to avoid most of the coverage and very few of my conversations over the past week have been about Queeny. So I'm going to try and leave this thread. But it's so tempting when it's right there. I'll leave with this though: it's only just struck me that we'll soon have Charles's face on our money. Which is weird. Fortunately I mostly stopped using cash to pay for things so won't see his ugly mug often. Yeah, ditto: it’s turning into one of the threads that makes me take time out from FG, as it used to at the old place, and I don’t want that. I’ll leave you with this, though: Charles’ face has already been on our banknotes…sort of… There used to be a trick with the notes in the eighties, where you took two notes, folded them a certain way, such that half the Queen’s face was placed alongside half…I think it was Sir Isaac Newton’s. The result was said to closely resemble Charles…

I was curious to look and sure enough, on all of BBC One's coverage today, only 1hr and 30 mins is non news programming. Not even at the funeral part of it yet.

I don't get these comments about blocking this thread. Surely you don't look in ALL the threads? Do people not just ignore the threads that aren't relevant / interesting to them?

I occasionally go into the wrestling and parenting threads despite giving zero fucks about either. The draw of a new post button in a slow day is just too great!

I've often clicked on the GamePass thread because it's habitual and thought "what am I doing here?" Tbh, I think that quite a lot anyway, regardless of whether I've clicked on anything or not.

Just tick it on the main page (or recent or whatever), then select Actions > Mark as Read and it'll offer you a timescale. Including "forever", if you so desire.

I just semi offended someone at work during some QA nonsense. They said something about the coffin being somewhere or other currently, so I (as amicably as is possible) said I was basically sick of it and that it didn't need 24 hour news coverage. They gasped and jokingly (but not really as you could sense they were actually annoyed) said they were going to end the meeting now and we couldn't keep talking.
Some people are truly invested it seems.

I like having this thread. It's keeping me sane seeing that there are people that find so much of this nonsense.
As I said before, I'm not sure why there isn't more anger about the way it is being treated. Shouldn't there be more people holding up "not my king" and "down with the monarchy" (careful now) signs?
I'm not even particularly a republican, but I would have expected a lot of this nonsense to cause a little surge of anti-monarchy sentiment, but there doesn't seem to be much visible and only the opposite seems to be happening.

There’s plenty of dissent on social media, but I’m not sure why you’d be surprised that the mainstream platforms aren’t really going there.

I thought you guys were exaggerating, like okay 2 weeks of no footy, they only have one of these funerals every 25 years or so. But that Twitter account dougs posted showed me that no, things are absolutely crazy. Still debating what’s worse though, no beeping at the self check-out or no kite flying because it’s disrespectful.

I'm just surprised there hasn't been more organised protests arranged, rather than 1 or 2 odd people. If a demonstration was organised and a few thousand people turned up (which isn't really that many), I would expect mainstream media would report on it.
I recall someone saying a while ago that young people now think posting something on Twitter is protesting. As you say, there is some dissent on Twitter, but not much publicly.
