I thought you guys were exaggerating, like okay 2 weeks of no footy, they only have one of these funerals every 25 years or so. But that Twitter account dougs posted showed me that no, things are absolutely crazy. Still debating what’s worse though, no beeping at the self check-out or no kite flying because it’s disrespectful. The problem is that it's been left up to everyone to walk a media tight rope of doing enough to show respect vs not doing enough and ending up on the front page of The Daily Mail for "Disrespecting ARE Queen". Even the Govt. ducked the issue by not making the Bank Holiday compulsory and leaving loads of companies to have to sort it out themselves.

Minutes silence. Followed by the National Anthem ffS, and in case you get carried away, a minutes clap at 70mins (not for the NHS, fuck them now) for the Queen as a reminder, you REALLY should be mourning instead of having fun.

In 30 seconds I saw a guy doing a salute and bow before marching away, a group of middle aged women with walking poles doing a mixture of bows and curtseys whilst looking rather confused about the whole thing, and a Draco Malfoy lookalike but the camera cut away before he attempted any dark arts. |
