How do these decisions get signed off, seriously? I can't imagine there wasn't at least employee at a senior level who didn't point out it's not a great look how they're going about things?

Just when you thought Center Parcs couldn't sink any lower, following yesterday's, "you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here" bollocks, they go out and prove you wrong.
How exactly are they going to enforce this latest bit of idiocy - security guards prowling the area, frogmarching escapees back to their lodges?

Nothing else for it but to sit in the lodge and loudly blast The Pogues - Fiesta on repeat.

It's almost like a competition now isn't it. Every company out-mourning the next.
It's fucking ludicrous. Why does everything have to shut? To pay your respects? You can pay your respects and continue to work you inflated cockade of cunts.

Toffs on horseback will be allowed to foxhunt guests who leave their lodge, as a mark of respect

I've decided I'm not going to shit on Monday as a mark of respect. That's right. My bowels are shutting down for the day. I'm going to back up so much that by Tuesday morning I've got faecal fingers tickling my tonsils. It's what she would have wanted.

If its anything like many companies (most) , they will have a CEO that no-one wants to cross and continue to push against as it would be career limiting. So, whatever the ultimate decision is (or whatever that CEO says he or she wants to do), the direct snr leadership team will either raise it to "discuss" it then fold once raised, or just keep quiet and row in behind what the CEO wants. To be a CEO you already need to be a megalomaniac and think you are smarter than everyone around you, so once you have decided something, then they don't want to hear (too loudly) people around them not rowing in behind - or its time to go.

You mean you haven't been holding it in since the news was announced last week? That's what she would have wanted!

I suspect that most of the bigger boo-boo's this week have been driven by fear rather than respect. Nobody wants to be the one caught with their dicks out and harassed into bankruptcy by the Daily Mail, so they are all just coming out with panicked bullshit.

Right. I was a bit fucked off before, but I'm royally (lol) fucked off.
My son has just started S1. At the end of P7, they were promised a residential trip for a few nights. Becuase of all the covid shit that still seemed to be affecting the schools basic ability to put the chuldren first, that never happened.
So he starts high school and since mid-way through the summer, has been really looking forward to the S1 residential trip instead, due to take place next week.
Well guess fucking what.
Because of this cunting funeral, their trip is being cut short. Instead of 2 nights, it's one night, with only half a day either side to do some of the many activities they had planned.
Well done guys. Covid already messed up with so many plans for the children. Let's continue to fuck things up for them.

Update from CP: Following a huge response on Twitter Center Parcs then issued another clarification saying: "Hi Apologies for my wording, you will be allowed to walk around the village, but the facilities will be closed."

I mean, I'm annoyed at the coverage but it's not really going to impact me but stuff like this being cancelled because some biddy popped her clogs is daft. Or cancelling of operations. I'm becoming more of a republican with every new stupid thing I hear. The French had the right idea.

It is genuinely astounding that this wasnt option A. There must be enough staff who would happily take 3x or something to keep a skeleton crew at each parc.

My patience is wearing pretty thin now, I must admit. Despite my longstanding antipathy towards the monarchy, I've always managed to tune them out for the most part. Now... not so much. They're in the news for some nebulous reason or other? Simple: I just won't watch/read it! I still don't know the ins and outs of the whole, Harry-and-Megan-betraying-the-family thing, for instance - it sounded like a lame-ass cross between EastEnders and The Godfather, so I was more than happy to let the finer details pass me by. The recent Jubilee celebrations were harder to ignore, largely due to all the cunting bunting that festooned every storefront and tree branch like a red, white, and blue parasite, but I even managed to turn a blind eye to that after a while. This, though? This is on a whole new level. It's on every TV station 'round the clock; every other website you visit has an "Our deepest condolences" banner; most of the shops in town are touting their royalist credentials by putting up signs, lamenting the Queen's passing and/or reminding us all that they'll be closed on Monday; and it's all anyone wants to talk about.
I was in the dairy section of the supermarket yesterday afternoon, inwardly marvelling at the death of skyr options on offer, when I became aware that a group of elderly shoppers had congregated nearby and were discussing the television coverage of the lying in state. If I can't get away from it while trying to purchase Icelandic yogurt in Morrisons, where can I go to be free of royal funeral chatter? WHERE, I ASK YOU?
Ahem.

I am sure plenty of cleaners would have been happy to work for double bubble to ensure people can get into their accommodation on the first day. It wouldn't surprise me if it was all linked to a CEOs stance, as well as not wanting to attract the swarms from the Mail, as suggested above. It does seem unnecessarily dogmatic and not remotely based on any commercial reality. What are Butlins doing?

To be honest I need to stop coming into this thread, as I'm actually able to avoid most of the coverage and very few of my conversations over the past week have been about Queeny.
So I'm going to try and leave this thread. But it's so tempting when it's right there.
I'll leave with this though: it's only just struck me that we'll soon have Charles's face on our money. Which is weird.
Fortunately I mostly stopped using cash to pay for things so won't see his ugly mug often.

Apart from having to listen to my missus's ramblings about it I've not experienced any RF nonsense whatsover, I haven't watched the news on the TV for years, I'll look at the BBC website in a week or so, I do listen to the radio World Service quite a bit in the car but again I'll just tune back into that in a few weeks. Frankly I wish I could block this thread on FG.

I notice Centre Parcs says you can walk, implying that cycling and running around site is not allowed.
