The king or queen ultimately has next to no impact on my life or many of the others. The argument they cost money is irrelevant when we have a corrupt government that spunk billions on things and line their own pockets. Politically it wouldn’t be an improvement.

But yeah, the reason why you're not escaping the monarchy isn't necessarily because everyone loves the royals or whatever. The reason is that change is harder than just doing what we always do, and people basically can't be bothered.

I can kind of understand the whole "I can't afford to switch off for one day, I'll just have to work" mentality. I was in that place not so long ago due to understaffing and absolutely terrible management.
Just switch off and touch some grass or something... Trust me!

I understand having mixed feelings about this particular bank holiday - yes, an extra day off is always nice, but I can see it having a pretty disruptive impact upon people's plans due to the lack of notice.
