Getting right on my nerves this idea that we're not allowed to have any kind of fun for the next two weeks. Football being cancelled has pissed me right off, so we've decided to go to a small beer/music festival tonight. Of course in the event Facebook page, some twunt is complaining that it won't 'set the right tone' if people are drinking and dancing the whole night so wants to make sure they'll be 'a reference to what we're going through as a nation.' So now they'll be a minutes silence before each band comes on... I'd have gone for a "Now we kneel" announcement between bands. |

It's a good thing football fans aren't the sort of people that would make a point of chanting the most disrespectful stuff they could thing of when the matches are allowed to go ahead. Too right. Can't trust the proles to behave like people at times like this. Prick. |

Seeing it reported that a fear of fan dissent during tributes at football games might have been a consideration. I’m surprisingly, irrationally angry about it. Has proper fucked me off lol More awkward for me is the idea of asking players from ex-colonies (particularly those that suffered terrible atrocities under British rule) to stand and pay respect. I do have a foot somewhat in the "she was not a part of that era" camp. but would you blame a player for not wanting to do that? It's like the McLean saga on a much grander scale. It'll be interesting to see if they do minute silences when footy resumes (I assume they will).

So why is the cricket still going ahead but not the football? Saw on twitter the concern is the fans are more likely to chant something disrespectful at football. Maybe a dumb question, if the footie fans are so hell-bent on chanting disrespect, what's stopping them from just going to a cricket game and doing it there? Will they be restricting ticket sales or something? |

I think if you switch to desktop view and paste the URL it'll embed properly. Mobile view just leaves a URL (which is still better than nothing - I need to see this!)
