Meh, people have plenty of reason to be glad she is dead. Lets not pretend that she didnt have a hand in or perpetuate the insitutions involved in terrible, global atrocities. Just be glad you dont have reason to dance on her grave. Go on. Genuinely curious. Aside from all the tax evasion, law changing, pedo covering, racism perpetuating and so on *gestures around the world* there is a reason almost all of our ex-colonies are currently popping champagne. Its a vile, regressive institution that represents the absolute worst of us and she was the figurehead for 70 years, doing nothing to reform it. The Palace lobbied and won to be excluded from the equality and diversity act and people wonder why black people arent all in mourning for her? Fucking hell...

How do we go about making a Queen NFT. I'm thinking we should strike whilst the Iron is hot? The modernisation of the Monarchy that we so desperately need. Uncritical support for this.

You make it sound like she directed all of the above, or at least was in a position to say no to it.
What she could have done, mind, is at least apologise for/acknowledge more of the wrongdoings brought during her reign and that of her predecessors.

The comment about how she found out she was the queen while safari-ing in Kenya, which would have been near the concentration camps where Barak Obama's dad was tortured around the same time, kind of struck home.

You make it sound like she directed all of the above, or at least was in a position to say no to it. Her uncle literally decided to stop being King. And I don't think anyone is suggesting she was directing it, but the facts are that we maintain the Monarchy in a constitutional role; they are, at least, symbolic and there's lots evidence that the Liz and Charles have both sought to influence policy.

What she could have done, mind, is at least apologise/acknowledge more of the wrongdoings brought during her reign and that of her predecessors. This is obviously why I said 'perpetuate the institutions'. There are clearly things she could have done if she wanted, like giving back the treasures and antiquities her ancestors stole rather than wearing them on her head.

Thought there was something I’d missed.

I mean she's the head of state for the UK, perhaps the vilest of all the vile institutions. She presided over the Empire, which raped and pillaged from billions of people. Closer to home, she paid up to protect her paedo son, made and hoarded vast unearned wealth on the backs of working people, and fought to exclude her estate from the Equalities Act 2010. Errm the Empire was falling apart well before she took the reigns. Her family though...

It wasn't at its 1922 peak but it was still absolutely massive in 1952 and Britain continued to extract vast sums of wealth from it until the 70s!

Charles might be up for planting some trees though, so there's that at least.

What odds on (You’re going to cry) 96 Tears being #1 by the time of the funeral?

And it's not like she made a proactive choice to dismantle the Empire; it was losing various wars for independence.

Don't forget she killed Diana, run her off the road herself, on foot, she didn't even use a car.

She's not even dead. Her body double decoy died. The real queen is Camilla.

She personally seems to have had a remarkably gaffe-free life, even as the most famous person on the planet. Even that David Jason gorilla anecdote is clean.

Fyi, handwaving away legitimate concerns as crackpot conspiracies is a route one Daily Mail move.

A lot of these points would make a lot more sense to me if it weren't for the fact she was just a figurehead ambassador for her entire life. Most of the stuff here are reasons to hate the UK and the Empire in particular (hot take!). I guess yeah being the primary symbol of all that I sort of get it but hating on her personally strikes me as blame misplaced

Ah, we're now in a new "Carolean" era. Bit weird.
Edit: "derived from Carolus, the Latin for Charles"

If she is simply an impotent figurehead, what’s the point of them? Why LARP as someone with authority? And if she is a master of her own household, yes, she might not have been at the wheel through the worst of it, there are institutional reforms and reparations she could have made if she could have been arsed.

Ah, we're now in a new "Carolean" era. Bit weird. Edit: "derived from Carolus, the Latin for Charles" Andrew Marr tried to say that on the radio last night then added "sounds a bit French, don't know if I like that".
Erm. Okay Andrew.

Valid observations, but you said she was personally responsible for several global atrocities.

Anyway, that’s probably labouring the point but, yes just consider people have legitimate grievances and are not just being arseholes for the sake of it
