London Bridge is Down

Only real feeling I have is disbelief that we're going to have a multi million pound, weeks long, public service stretching procession while many normal people have to decide between food and fuel poverty over the winter. I just find the whole thing deeply insulting and completely separate from reality.

Most Australians I've spoken to here seem very royalist, but of course that's probably partly why they were here in the first place. They would certainly lead me to believe it was generally popular in Australia though

Regardless of my own feelings on her passing, I can't help but be appalled at some of the behaviour I've witnessed celebrating her death. Like this absolute pond scum of a woman just north of me, who ended up having to get a police escort away from the angry crowds that formed after she posted her cuntish video:

The only real reason Australia is not a republic already is the monarchists in government at the time of the last referendum hijacked the questions being asked at the polls and many people were somewhat confused by it all so went with the status quo. Had it been a simple yes/no ballot we would of voted to be a republic. After that even the republicans stated out of respect to the Queen we wont have another crack at it until the Queen dies.

It would be a great restart that the country needs, stop fucking about with stupid referenda to appoint an indigenous voice to government, have a proper independence day on a new fucking date, new flag, a proper constitution recognising the first nations people and maybe get around to enshrining a treaty. All wishful thinking but it would be the perfect opportunity to start fixing many wrongs properly.

I think a lot of them would have wished for it to skip directly to Wills purely because Charles has a lot of 'leftist' ideas like giving a shit about the environment, so I think he will lose the gutter press quite quickly.

Wills, on the other hand, seems like he will be happy* to be compliant and keep his mouth shut

Meh, people have plenty of reason to be glad she is dead. Lets not pretend that she didnt have a hand in or perpetuate the insitutions involved in terrible, global atrocities. Just be glad you dont have reason to dance on her grave.

I mean she's the head of state for the UK, perhaps the vilest of all the vile institutions. She presided over the Empire, which raped and pillaged from billions of people. Closer to home, she paid up to protect her paedo son, made and hoarded vast unearned wealth on the backs of working people, and fought to exclude her estate from the Equalities Act 2010.
