Isn't that the same in all ARPGs? Endgame is basically grind to get better gear and XP to be able to grind better. At least in PoE, they put actual endgame content for the most hardcore players that 90% of the whole player base will not even reach.

Ooof the rubber banding is getting worse and worse. And yeah I haven't had anything of an upgrade in my drops for over a week, everything is either bafflingly ten levels lower than my lv55 or just lower stats that won't even make a difference when upgraded. The grind is fucking real. What are you trying to accomplish with the grind? How does the grind look in diablo 4. Is there a goal to it? I only did the story campaign in d3 and grinded in path of exile. So in poe the grind for equipment was to build character or currency/items for trade to build your character. Does it work similarly in d4? When you hit 50 you open up the Paragon system, which is a dirty great big board of nodes (has similarities to FFX or FFXII? that increase stats. For every character level after 50 you end up with 4 points to use on Paragon modes There are also blank glyph nodes that you fill with a glyph that you can then level to increase its power by completing nightmare dungeons. Once you reach a connection node you can clip another board on, with each board having special 'legendary' and rare nodes. On top of that there's the gear grind, but that seems to plateau once you've done enough of each difficulty tier |

I'm only a dozen nodes into my first Paragon Board, but I'm already fully smitten. Added 25% damage output. That kicks the shit out of most of the gear upgrades I've seen.  |

Aye, the paragon board is ace and well worth chasing down max renown in all areas for the extra points. The customisation options get even more impressive when you unlock the next board.
I need to have a rethink of mine. I seem to be especially squishy after levelling up a couple of times since they boosted XP gain.
Managed to lose half of my cinders twice yesterday before giving up in a huff.

Wait till you buggers start getting glyphs. Basically like legendary gems that can be slotted I to paragon boards and have a radius. You kevel them up and they have an effect. They have secondary bonuses that have a stat requirement eg purchase X willpower from nodes within the radius.
You have to be smart about where you put them to ensure you can get the bonus if your interested in that sort of thing obvs.
Not sure yet if the radius of the glyph grows with its level.

Yeah, radius grows I think although it's only at set intervals IIRC (level 15 is ringing a bell)
Spent my lunch break playing it and now I'm firing up my steam deck to have a look through the paragon board. Bloody addictive thing!

At least in PoE, they put actual endgame content for the most hardcore players that 90% of the whole player base will not even reach. the one thing that poe defo has above this is interesting events that suddenly change a regular map/dungeon .. be it blight, incursion, breach, delirium etc. etc. This is the kind of thing I really hope that they add to D4. The ability to then infuse maps with the above events since you really like them is also a gain. D4 definitely feels like they're going in this route with the sigils, the scope for expansion on them is great. They would be mad not to take some inspiration from Poe because as ugly as it is at times, it has some solid end game stuff that was constantly added to the core loop over the years. |

Exactly. We're still at the very start of D4s life but it's easy to see the underpinnings of stuff that they can expand on greatly. Sigil crafting, paragon boards bring customizable/socketable. Dungeons have events already in them but the pool to choose from is low so it's the same shit each time. They've already added teleport to outside adungeon so I can already the next step being Tele straight to inside. |

Still, I suppose I have to look on the bright side. I've only been playing in nightmare for about an hour and done a stronghold and a helltide and already have some sacred drops and stuff I might be able to use

I'm still plodding through it. Only just arrived in Kehjistan. Bloody love it to bits though. The large open world is just rammed with stuff. I know I've said it before but for the first time in a Diablo game I'm paying more attention to the main screen than the map. It's fucking amazing. I THINK my build is working well. Still taking out strongholds when I find them easily enough and not really having any bother with anything so long as I'm careful.

Blimey, I've only done one proper dungeon so far on nightmare and pretty much everything that drops I can use!
Half way through a dungeon, I've got to go back to town to sort kit out. Weapons dropping with extra damage in the hundreds!

Haha, what the fuck. I've just had a look at the board preview thing in the paragon bit. I thought it would just be the first set of upgrade tiles, but there's loads more boards by the looks of it. I'll be playing this for years at this rate!

Top tips for paragon boards.
Rare nodes can be exceptionally good for your build, so scour a board carefully identifying ones you like.
Don’t forget you can rotate a board before you lay it. Be efficient.
You should get the glyph socket off each board so you can put your own in.
Currently I am hoovering up renown for those extra paragon points and unlocking all the Lilith statues for stats. Collecting statues is dull but has to be done. That’s a hell of a lot of stat points.
