Danno - cool, nice one neems - is that definitely a thing? I'd have thought a merc was essential? Yeah, tool them up right and they can tank a boss for you

I can't remember a bloody thing about runes. There's a surprise. I think I'll just fudge my way through until I get up to speed enough to figure out how I can stay alive longer.

I'm just going to collect them all and lob them in the stash for now. But I might spunk some low level ones into some socketable items just for shits and giggles. Also, I can't remember - is the stash shareable between characters or not?

See reading that reminded me why I could never really get my head around D3. In my head it should have been like Diablo 2 where you plug your skill points into your stats, choosing what you want to level up. I much prefer it. Diablo 3 was more about just crazy numbers really quickly and no allocating skill points anywhere.
In fact reading that, I'm reminded just how much I think I prefer the way D2 works over 3.

Act2 aura mercs are good, the rest are a bit useless. There's little point in stacking MF on them even, as it only counts if they get the final blow, and their damage is almost non existent.

Yeah, I agree. I prefer it over D3's mechanics. D3 I just ended up swapping in and out abilities till I was happy with the playstyle, and then like you say, the numbers start going daft. D2 in my eyes is a bit more precise and straightforward. Plus it's darker. And has cool, dark music. And dark areas.

Ah excellent, that'll save pissing about creating games and dropping kit in town then, bonus.
Also, more info on Cross-progression, as they're calling it -
Cross-progression is a feature distinct from cross-play--it doesn't mean you can play with your friend on PC if you are playing on Xbox Series X. Instead, what cross-progression allows you to do is play your character on one platform and then pick up where you left off on another. This way, if your friend only plays on PlayStation and you prefer PC, you can still temporarily jump to PlayStation in order to play cooperatively with them. This feature was not included in Diablo 3--nor was cross-play--so you could only play on people with the same system as you. You do still have to buy the game separately on all platforms you'll be using.
To do this, you just need to have a Battle.net account that is linked to the platform in question. If you've played Diablo 3 or Overwatch on a console already, there is a pretty good chance you've already done this.
If you haven't, there are a few ways to do so. From your game screen, you can choose the "link accounts" box under the options menu and then pull up a browser, which you can sign in to in order to link Battle.net to whatever platform you're on.
The easier way is to log in on your computer or phone. Sign in to Battle.net and go to the Connections page, click "Connect," select the platforms you're going to play on, and sign in to each of them using their own websites.

I have to say, the more I'm reading and remembering, the more I'm recalling why i liked it so much in the first place, and also why I'm so cold on Diablo 3. Funny. You're right quad, it's more straightforward and precise - better for it I'd say.
Plus, no Leah, which has got to be a massive bonus.

Question for those in the know...
How does level scaling (if there is any) work when you're playing together? For example can a level 5 player hang with a Level 30 and still have fun? Or is it just a case of the higher level player ripping through everything or the lower level player getting dominated depending on what you're tackling?
I'm a Diablo virgin but a group of mates have been badgering me to get Resurrected so we can play together, but they're all childless gits who can plough 50 hours into a game on any given week and I'm lucky to get 2 hours a night.
Is there any hope for me?

You could have 2 chars - one for them and invariably it'll end up being dragged along as you catch up, and then another character for yourself?
Or all of you have multiple chars going and agree that you only use them when playing co-op, and they could steam off and run other characters for their 50+ hour runs?
They'll be a way, for sure

Is there any hope for me? In single player, the first thing I'd do is manually set the difficulty to 8 players, it speeds levelling up (and might improve drops, can't remember). It's perfectly doable as a low level character though
edit: misread your post, but if people are playing single player, I still recommend setting it to 8 players

Level scaling is a no then, shame, if we play together it sounds like I'm getting dragged about. Really wish more games would implement a Division 2 style group scaling mechanic.

I don't think I could go back to Diablo 2 nowadays. No always running, no stacking potions, very small inventory, more annoying controls. And did they say whether the endgame is going to be anything other than infinite Baal runs?

I made a Druid called Treehug. He's going to be a wolfman, that also summons wolves. I've nfi whether it will be any good or not, but generally I like to stick to a theme if I can.

Is there any hope for me? Because I'm nice, I had a look at this for you in the menu. Before even starting a new character! In the "Game Creation" menu, you can set both of the following options - 1) Enable Character Level Restriction. "Restricts who can join your game with a maximum character level difference". This can be toggled on and off. 2) Character level difference. And this has a range of levels that you can set. From 0 to 99. So that may help somewhat?
