I fucking love the power shots. So rewarding when you use them sparingly with just the right timing.
Also love how finally, finally it feels like second balls from stuff like crosses, corners and outswinging free kicks can actually be won by the attacking team, and isn't just "your turn is over now, defending team gets possession". Been probably my single biggest bugbear of football games forever.
Only real gripe I have with the game is how rooted AI goalies are to their six yard box and line. Its a bit unrealistic how hilariously static they are.

I've scored a few beauties with them. Once you've scored one or two you start to instinctively know when it's time to pull one out of the bag in games. Really rewarding.

You can add swerve to them as well which makes it 10 times sweeter when they go in.

Fur Nanch is a beast at them. Played someone that had De Brainer in fut and he was incredible at them as well.
Still think volleys are my favourite finishes though.

The defending has really grown on me now that I understand what I'm meant to be doing. It's far more involved and satisfying when you pull it off.

Really enjoyed my time with it last night, it's obvious it's the best FIFA in a while. Power shots are banging. It was the first thing I attempted in the tutorial match and it pinged into the top corner, didn't need much convincing after that!

Got a slightly annoying thing/bug on PC where my controller settings are some times being changed when I go into certain modes. So if I have most things turned to Semi rather than Assisted (with the exception of Shots/Crosses) in the main menu, when I play a game in Kick Off or FUT they seem to occasionally all switch to Semi and need to be changed on a game by game basis. Irritating, as it always results in me making an absolute cunt of my first chance in most games lol

On a plus side I scored an absolute screamer with Pogba in a squad battle. 25yrd power shot, hit the bar and in. Glorious.

My muscle memory makes me want to constantly double tap circle/B at corners or with crosses into the box. I seem to recall, way back in the day, that executed some kind of special finish (bicycle kicks, overheads, power headers etc.). Is that still a thing? Or should I just be pressing the button and gauging the power of the finish?

I've got quite good at defending now although I think the slider change has helped somewhat as the entire game seems tighter. Still get caught out with the odd bit of really fast movement from the AI but I mostly manage. I do find it quite stressful though as you have to be really focused on what's going on, no lazy moments at the back  |

I've been dogshit at defending on football games since they got rid of 'hold button to lock on' to be honest. I've completely winged it ever since then.
