The Spectacular Spider-Man. Possibly the best animated version of Spidey to exist. Hannibal. Maybe. Edit - Also, the 80s Dungeons and Dragons cartoon that finished without resolving. Reading the script online of the last episode isn't enough! what happened in the script!? soulofacarp.com/ReavesSite/pdf/requiem_sec.pdfEnjoy!

Almost Human - Part-machine cop Karl Urban with his part-human partner!! What's not to love! So much potential. Canned. (sad face) Yes! Just came in to post the same. Loved it, easy going stuff.

Tim was surprisingly funny. The Mexican speech was great.

I actually think all my favourite shows, if they came back, it'd be problematic somehow. My favourite show of all time is The West Wing, but I don't know how you'd do such an optimistic show in today's political climate. Josh and Sam are probably writing hand-wringing thinkpieces about for the Post about the need to bridge the divide, about bringing MAGA Republicans back to the table, etc, meanwhile there are armed insurrectionists storming the building. I don't see it working, not the way it did.
Similarly, Firefly just has too many problematic characters associated with it now. X-Files has come back and spluttered out... Red Dwarf keeps going, more or less... Space ended perfectly... don't want anything back that Glinner has touched...
Mondo Rosso. There you go. Stop making Jonathan Ross do mainstream talkshows, let him get fucking weird again like the 90s, and do a new series of Mondo Rosso.

Thanks It's a little tough to read but the first and last 4-5 pages are definitely worth a read as it gives background on the Dungeon Master, Venger and if the kids ever get home. Would've made for an excellent episode!

That is brilliant, can't believe I've waited nearly 40 years to find out what happened!

I'd love more Thick of It. I know Iannucci has said the current government is too corrupt to lampoon but I really miss his sharp dialogue and biting satire. That space thing was fine but it just wasn't a patch on his political output.

I loved how the film wrapped things up, but we deserved more seasons of Deadwood. Could have ended up as the GOAT with a few more.
GoT, not the rushed final 2 seasons we got. But fully fleshed out seasons with another 2 extra as there was still so much story to tell.
Rome.

No fans of The OA? It was cringey in places and could be infuriatingly obtuse but it was certainly original and you never knew where it was going. They clearly wanted to go full meta in season 3 though, so maybe its cancellation was for the best.
Edit: OA, not OC lol.

A triple choice of science fiction series that ended on cliffhangers, Sarah Connor already mentioned which ending where it did is a crime against television.
Odyssey 5 : group of astronauts on the space shuttle doing a routine mission see Earth obliterated and get sent back in time 5 years by a mysterious alien to try and so it happening. Created by Manny Cotto who then went on to to turn around Enterprise when it got cancelled. And then Enterprise got cancelled.
Jericho : typical family drama in the Midwest, with a returning black sheep protagonist who comes home just as the US has nukes going off around the country. No it's not the Russians or the Chinese it's a massive conspiracy from inside the country. Ends on a cliffhanger, continued in comics, comics get cancelled. FFS.
And the most recent one -
Dark Matter : a band of amenisiacs on a starship not knowing how they got there, turns into a series of political intrigue and double-crosses as they discover who they are and the final season builds to a massive cliffhanger and then SyFy pulled the plug. The channel appeared to have a choice between continuing it or Killjoys. I think they made the wrong decision as the final season of that was all over the place.

What was that series set in a small American town just after a nuclear war? I thought I'd be alone saying Jericho. I need to visit the getting old thread, both my posts had been suggested. Apparently they followed up the story of Jericho in comics

oh i don't know any photographers. 👀 had no idea that was his career move. I've always assumed it was a way of dealing with the trauma of being the Alvin & the Chipmuks guy oh I'd forgotten he'd done those. completely wiped them from memory

What was that series set in a small American town just after a nuclear war? I liked Jericho too, although I'm not sure I'm super desperate to find out where it was going these days. Loved Farscape and liked Space A&B, but I feel like Farscape mostly got finished, and I didn't mind where SA&B ended, although maybe I'm misremembering something. Also loved Northern Exposure.. but not sure that needed more.

I want to say The 100 (what?!) but it finished with exactly 100 episodes which feels nice. It was my projector TV show of choice, it looked immense on the big screen, loved the opening credits, feels epic.
It was fluff obv.

Raised By Wolves... Don't want to curse it but it does appear to be done.
Reaper. Was getting into it's stride in the second series
The 4400. First time around was just left hanging, reboot got cancelled earlier this year after one series. Not watched it so I am part of the problem....

I felt about 20 years too old to be watching the 100. Think we managed one season before noping out.
Does the CW actually make anything non-YA?

That and (YA) DC. Similarly, UPN back in the day used to be all black sitcoms and Star Trek. I kind of respect when a network finds its niche and flourishes, as it's much more interesting than the others all trying to do their own version of their competitors' shows.

I have made my peace with Firefly being one season, what a season, the characters, writing, and direction were terrific.
The episode Out of Gas would be in my top 1 of best episodes of anything i have ever watched
Dunno how Fox could have fucked it so badly... oh wait, yes I do.
So mine, Vagrant Queen cancelled by SYFY after 1 season, super cheesy but struck a chord with me
Freeks and Geeks was one I remember fondly that could have used more series

Nah, Peep Show ran its course. I hardly ever rewatch it now. I think it stops being really good around series 4 - the wedding was a good place to end it. Not that it was bad at the end but it definitely didn't have the same impact, despite some good episodes. Sorry, you're very wrong. It's surprisingly consistent throughout, as confirmed in my most recent of yearly re-watches. And I used to be a 'it's not as good after season two' cunt. I think a reunion episode needs to happen really, fifty years old and still completely codependent.
