Our local baker also ran out of stock and closed ridiculously early. If you're lucky you might get a stale sausage roll at lunchtime as they're shuttering up.

Unsure if I can be arsed to do owt more that a Tesco meal deal. I've never understood the Greggs thing, local bakery's sell stuff far better and for about the same cost yet plenty of people rave about Greggs. I'm not entirely sure we even have any bakery's left in my town and I think it's been that way for a long time.

There were times when, offered the choice between a Greggs and Army packed lunch (AKA "Horror Bags") I was tempted to just go hungry. Usually, we'd all end up eating both. 😔 Need more details about the Horror Bags! A brown paper bag, containing: Two floppy, unappetising sandwiches of uncertain type, made with the roughest white bread and bulk buy margarine. Often one egg mayo which smelled of armpits and one "Mystery Fish", the origin of which is still unknown to this day but which only the hungriest would dare eat. A can of off brand cola, warm. A kit kat (usually the best bit) or Blue Ribband. A packet of taste free crisps of a brand unavailable anywhere else. Sometimes an apple, which if you were really lucky, wouldn't look like it had been used for an impromptu kick about. They weren't very popular. Hence the nickname. Opening of the bags was usually immediately followed by lots of bartering for swaps.

🤣🤣
I would, without question, eat a Cubby cheese and pickle before a mystery fish. Not even a contest.

I think I'm going to slow roast the lamb shank I have in the fridge today. It's going to be a reeeally slow roast in the fridge.

Will 'fresh' noodles with a use by date of 31 May be OK to eat? They smell OK or at least not horrible.

Eggs go pretty nasty. Salmonella ahoy. You can usually smell if they're off.
Lamb was amazing. With baked potatoes and fresh beans from the garden. Yum.

I've just read back and seen it's not an actual egg. They'll probably just taste a bit odd. 😁

It's going to be boiled for a few mins, so any bugs will be killed. If it smelt ok, i'd risk it. N. B. Please post early tomorrow, so we know you're still alive! 😀

Will 'fresh' noodles with a use by date of 31 May be OK to eat? They smell OK or at least not horrible. They'll develop mould if they're off. If they smell fine with no discolouration you'll be fine. They're pre-cooked so any original nasties will be gone.

This is proof that Freddie is the next stage in human revolution. And in another dimension there's a Cubby who can cut a sandwich normally.

This is proof that Freddie is the next stage in human revolution. An awful lot of his riskier meals would have me frantically revolving my arsehole and my mouth hole above the toilet to catch whatever was in operation at the time
