+1 for the "a good steak shouldn't need any sauce" gang. Although I bloody love chimichurri... This is correct.

Aye, if I do prepare a sauce it’s usually chimichurri. Looks great as well.

There's a steak place in Birmingham that does a bone marrow and malbec sauce, which is even more delicious than you imagine.

See, sauce makes good things even better.

If I've got a big steak I like a bit of English mustard. The sauces are usually for the sides. Hawksmoor chips with their bone marrow grave is part of my last meal.

Generally don't have a sauce with steak but do make exceptions for a simple fresh parsley, butter and garlic mix and this gets elevated with the addition of mustard, salt, pepper and a splash of whisky or rum.

In my opinion steak needs a sauce if it hasn’t been basted when searing (preferably with butter that mixes with its own rendered fats in the pan). As good as a well seasoned steak over nothing but heat can be, even the best cuts could often use a little kiss of something, even if it’s just a pinch of seasoned butter while it’s resting.

Need for sauce depends on the cut IMO. Lean cuts like Fillet benefit much more than fattier cuts like Ribeye.

Just rock/sea salt and pepper on my steaks. I could go a steak this weekend, definitely.

I have a choice tonight. It's band practice though which means I'll be knackered so it's going to be something easy out of this lot
Some tomato and cheese pasta based thing with whatever twist like extra cheese or bacon or whatever.
Spagbol
Lamb chops and some mash + gravy
Chicken pakoras with some rice and a salad
Crisps from the pub
Bacon sarnie with some really nice burger pickles sliced because when you're hammered, they're really good

Decided to try mini hasselback potatoes on a whim and they turned out pretty fucking amazing. Totally winged it and guessed as I went along, and probably could've cooked them cooler and for longer. They're definitely going into regular rotation for me anyway.
Also roast chicken breast and some steamed fine beans with lots of butter.

New potatoes par-boiled then roasted with red onion and garlic, a mushroom, mustard and stout gravy, asparagus, and a lump of rump steak

Hasselbacks were a revelation when I first made them but haven't done them for years now. Really need to get back on that

I bet that tastes better than it looks, love cevapcici. Was delicious, the sweetness of the prunes gave such a nice contrast. A keeper. We only made it like that as we had a bag full of dried plums (prunes?) out of date, gf started looking at how to use them and when in the butchers for sausages for it, butcher said you need to use these. Haven't had cevapcici for ages either. It's not really a summer dish but hey ho.
