Chicken Kievs tonight; just supermarket jobbies.
Boiled potatoes (pepper, parsley, butter), peas and broad beans too.

Agreed, I have decided I really want one so homemade burgers it is. I'm having mine with brie, bacon and an egg. Ketchup and maybe mustard. The rest will no doubt want rabbits food on theirs. I'm 100% with Gremmi that 'murican cheese is best for burgers, but a ripe brie does sound like it's worth a bite

Is chicken Kiev the same as cordon blue but with chicken?

Danno They’re on our regular rotation here: once or twice a month, when I haven’t got time to cook anything complicated.

Is chicken Kiev the same as cordon blue but with chicken? Cordon bleu? It’s similar. Chicken breast in garlic butter, coated in breadcrumbs. No cheese, though.

Is chicken Kiev the same as cordon blue but with chicken? It's a big breaded chicken nugget full of garlic butter. It's awesome.

Aha, I remembered that it was breaded but not the filling. I think it's difficult to bread and fry something and it not be great tbh.

ecosse no cheese in a chicken Kiev. Lots and lots of oozy parsley butter, though. Haven't had one in years and now I want one damnit!

Slices wrapped in plastic or separated by paper? Not much of that orange stuff available here that is not labelled as cheddar. Honestly both are ok and would be the normal go to but brie is a special treat to me and if I think of it that way then by default it is automatically better than run of the mill normality. And comte I reckon is another one to try soon, full of flavour that one.

Thick cheddar is best on burger. If you live in the US (don't know if it's available elsewhere), a slice of Tillamook Sharp Cheddar cheese? Marrone. 🤌🏽

Yank pseudo-cheese is an absolute necessity on a burger. I have it with cheddar (or even better, Monterey Jack) and it's a game-changer.
Had a dream last night that a Five Guys opened up on my road, maybe I need a burger soon.

OK, Mrs Fox averted a full on strop and made Hachis parmentier for the first time. Basically a French Shepard's Pie and it was very good and enjoyed by all. The smell lingers and it's very warming if that makes sense.
Still pissy over the pizza thing though.

That sounds glorious (after a google) and if you're still grumpy after that then Mrs H-alpha should have a free pass for a kick inna nuts, with a run up. There's still pizza tomorrow

Pizza bases, pizza sauce and let them make their own pizzas at home? Back when I was a student, Asda of all places had a really good cheap pizza counter where you could pick your own toppings. No idea if that's still a thing.
Or make the kids suck it up and eat something new

Morrisons have those build your own pizza counters. Not much use to fox, though.
Definitely make your own as a family activity. If you've got a breadmaker just whack if on the pizza dough setting and come back in an hour. I know it's not the convenience of just ordering something and having a stress free evening, but I loved it as a kid. Good way to get them involved in cooking.

Hmm, I fancy slow cooking lamb shoulder and making a "posh" Sheperd's Pie with it, maybe next weekend.

Slow cooked lamb would make that Hachis amazing, kids wouldn't eat it though. Little shits, lol.
If the pizza shop had a plain old margarita option then we'd be fine, but they don't which is bonkers in itself. I imagine the kids will compromise when it dawns on them. The home made thing is good fun and have been meaning to try it again but last time was a failure and caused an argument so motivation for that isn't high.

Wow, don't think I've ever seen a pizza place that doesn't do margarita. Sure that's illegal in Italy

No garlic bread either.

No Margaritas it weird. Can't you just order their cheapest pizza and get them to hold the *insert topping here*
The weird thing in Japan is that the pizza shops have these long menus with dozens and dozens of variations (normal, and also very weird japanese only ones). But if you ask 100 Japanese people what their favorite pizza is then 100 would say Margarita, and so that's all they ever order. So I don't get why the shops bother.
