Pan-fried is an important distinction from deep-fried.
Similarly, one can pan-roast things.

Pan-fried is an important distinction from deep-fried. Similarly, one can pan-roast things. 99% of roasting is in an oven. So, fried and deep-fried, like we've always had, "pan-fried" is pointless. Don't get in the way of my grump-old-man-ness!

It's not like you to not go down the snobby/wanky route and instead just want generic fried and roasted. Especially seeing its about food.
You've changed.

I think it's expressive. Yes in many instances it's tautological but it's evocative and I, for one, respect it.

Pork loin medallions are lovely. Whenever I have them every once in a blue moon I always wonder why I don't eat them more often.

For breakfast I’m kettle-boiling water for tea, toaster-toasting some toast which I’ll then knife-spread butter on. I may have a pot-boiled egg with it as well.

I’ll then knife-spread butter on. That's an important distinction from shoving your fist into the butter and wiping it onto the toast.

Rather ironically we’re doing a pot roast today.

Just as the oven vs. pan wars were hotting up a new faction appears out of nowhere!

Made my first instant pot dinner last night. Butter chicken, with the recipe from the app.
It was very well received by all.

I still smell like my failed attempt at Lamb Bhuna yesterday. It's like it's haunting me.

Last night we got great Thai takeaway, marinated spare ribs, pad Thai and Pad Gra Phao. Utterly delicious.
We'll be microwave-reheating leftovers for lunch.

Braised Szechuan aubergine with sticky rice.
One of my all-time favourites and so easy to make. Chucked some mushrooms and frozen veg in too, so it was actually pretty healthy if you ignore the vast quantities of sodium.

My neighbours made a Romanian dried fish stew on Sunday and appear to be eating it alllllllll week. It's started to turn my guts a bit

Gonna cook some cod steaks and some potato cakes later, after realising i've never cooked fish before, somehow. Not sure what sorta sauce i'm gonna do with it though.

Had homemade vegetable soup and freshly baked bread yesterday. The soup was in dire need of some meat, but the bread was nice. My lettuce munching wife had been wanting this for a while so I gave in. Suspect she won't be asking again anytime soon.
I also cooked a stew and a bolognese. I think we're having the stew today with dumplings.

Sweet potato dahl. It was too sweet for my savoury palette, although most people would probably think it fine. Next time I'll use old-fashioned non-sweet potatoes.
