I might join that group just to follow "Liverpool's biggest and best streamer"...MrTom. I did laugh when I joined and his post was right at the top of my feed. That's quite a profile!

Why would I follow any of you, when I read enough of your shite on here. I get it, I'd mute myself if I could.

they don't mention moving to any other platform like Bluesky or Threads as an alternative. Maybe they already have accounts, but they don't mention them in the article. There are a lot of them on Bluesky now - this is a non-comprehensive list: go.bsky.app/FxFV559and here's another one which is better, shared by their deputy political editor: go.bsky.app/B6CxPTXHowever I haven't seen an official corporate account.

Today seems to be a pretty big day for migration. All the Leeds journo and fan channels I follow are the only reason I still have a Twitter login, and they’ve all just set up on Bluesky in the last few hours. Can finally delete my account in the bad place.

Maybe the election result finally broke the camel's back? I don't even remember the login and password of my (never used, only made for a project yonks ago) account to delete it

I was just about to post “I’m just waiting for Crap 90s Football” to transition then I’m good to go, and noticed they to appear to have done 3hrs ago. Score.

BBC Newsnight has popped up on Bluesky, I wonder if the rest of the Beeb will be joining them? Someone should tell them how to self-verify.
edit: Bluesky has now cleared 15 million users, I thought I was a bit late to the party as someone in the 477K party.

I've not posted on Twitter for nearly 4 years, and was an infrequent poster before then.
I still visit daily, mainly to see what the nutjobs are posting as I like to know what the other side is thinking and saying, but it's beyond a cesspit now (and has been for ages really) and time to close the account.
I setup a bluesky account a while back but not yet created a proper profile, which it looks like I should before engaging much - slowly making the steps though as it seems a lot of other people are finally doing.

Maybe the election result finally broke the camel's back? Partly. The migration started accelerating last week. For the official news accounts, I expect it is the public announcement today of Musk taking an active role in the Trump administration. Twitter/X was already a propaganda platform for Musk. Now that he is in the government it will be a propaganda platform for the Trump administration. Foreign newsagencies that want to hold him to account potentially could be targeted by him and his followers, so best to just leave it.

Looks like the IT bods at LBC know what they're doing as they've done the correct thing to add themselves to Bluesky bsky.app/profile/lbc.co.uk
Today really does feel like the Twitter death spiral has intensified.

As soon as the news channels and papers leave that's most of twitter's utility gone.

Wikipedia page view stats seem to corroborate it. A tenfold increase in 5 days.

It's good to see BlueSky uptake but let's be real, Twitter's not going anywhere and certainly not dying.

As soon as the news channels and papers leave that's most of twitter's utility gone. Well, fanartists... But I'm increasingly seeing links to Bluesky posts instead of Xitter when people link arts, so I suspect they're starting to abandon ship as well

It's good to see BlueSky uptake but let's be real, Twitter's not going anywhere and certainly not dying. Well obviously not anytime soon, the MAGAts alone will be enough to keep it active even if all other (sane) people leave... It'll just increasingly turn into even more of an echo chamber than the Muskrat's purchase has made it so far

It's good to see BlueSky uptake but let's be real, Twitter's not going anywhere and certainly not dying. I'd argue Twitter is already dead - at least as we knew it. X is still kicking but becoming more like 4Chan by the day. If all that is left is blue-tick echochamber, with Temu the only advertiser, I'd say its days are indeed numbered.

I do get what people are saying but it's too big now I feel, some people already too invested in it for news or have social circles that also aren't making the jump. This happened around the time Threads started, happened when Brazil was blocked from Twitter for a time too.
It really has just become like 4chan. Wonder how much value the people that do enjoy it would have if the other side just really left en masse. With nobody to argue with would they even still stay engaged.

Given how much Saudi has realised they've over extended on investments and are trying to reduce their commitments I wonder how long MBS will tolerate their cash being pissed away by Musk?

There's reports that Twitter may merge with Truth Social. Yeh I'm personally 100% done if that turns out to be the case.

Is Bluesky any less of an echo chamber than Twitter? Seems to be far more so, albeit not in a dangerous racist alt-right way.

I've been using Twitter for so long that my timeline is thankfully pretty clean - I even prefer to use the "For you" tab over those I'm following, as it's a decent catch up of the last 24 hours, a bit too behind to be relevant sometimes, but the darkest it gets is the fella in Thailand with all the dogs, and Derek and his fashion tips.

I think twitter has long established that breaking up echo chambers doesn't really achieve anything other than making people angry.
I don't want an algorithm exposing me to nazis, let me stay in my bubble, and let them stay in theirs.
