Bluesky will hit 15 million users before lunchtime and is gaining them at more than one a second if this page is accurate bsky-users.theo.io/I maintain the Eurogamer Irregulars starter pack on there, pretty obvious what that's about, if anyone is thinking about signing up, it includes plenty of people from there that aren't here. go.bsky.app/QJ17xB6For me Bluesky is pretty much exactly like the Twitter I joined in 2010 and it's getting more and more people finally abandoning Xitter. The people behind it are very open in what they're up to and their team will talk directly to users about things too which is nice. Cheers for that. Followed all 👍

I wondered why I was suddenly getting loads of FG followers in the last 10 minutes. That would explain it.

Blue Sky need to make it easier to find people. Threads did it quite well, managed to find a lot of ex-Twitter peeps quite easily.

Bluesky also have similar lists which automatically block people you don't want, and they'll get updated without you having to maintain them yourself.

I've got it sorted now and following a lot of people (and even got a reasonable number of followers myself, somehow), but getting there took quite some time. Starter packs are the best way, but they don't provide an easy way to search through them unless someone shares them in a post.

Do Bluesky embeds work? Twitter embeds are 99% of my posts here, and I don't want to have to start thinking up my own content.

I mean I don't know that it necessarily works here, but that's how to do it

Think we'd need the auto embed links plugin in order for that to work.

Yeah I tried a couple of things and it doesn't work, I don't know if the forum configuration needs to have an additional option added to it or Proboards themselves need to make a more universal change.

Yep. Saw them announce over 1m have signed up this week but it still feels pretty dead. Plus lots of big companies have yet to make accounts. I wouldn’t say it’s dead, it’s just not manic like Twitter is.

Also wtf it isn't dead at all!? If it feels dead, it's probably because you're using the bog standard 'following' feed and you're not following enough people.

More in regards to how many channels/sites haven't created accounts yet. Just a bunch of unofficial ones.

Users: I'm not joining until Big Company ABC joins
Big Company ABC: We're not joining until there's enough BlueSky subscribers to warrant it

Oh right, duh me. I read EG Irregulars and thought it was just people that left there and didn't come here.

Does Bluesky have APIs that support 3rd party apps etc..? (I'm assuming yes based on that user counter).
I think a decent chunk of Twitter's growth, at least in the early days, was because there were loads of clients, and various apps that you could use to cross post with other social media services, etc..
Then I think they finally locked down all the APIs, or at least charged so much for them that free apps couldn't support them anymore.
Then again, I wonder if having several social media accounts in one app is needed anymore. Phones have gotten faster and it's easier to flip between apps, and people are used to it.
