I'm glad that a thread was created based around a conversation we have on a 3 month cyclical timeline that always ends the same way. Bravo user Freddie, bravo. I get that at home too, but itβs every 28 days weirdly enough, not every 3 months. But definitely cyclical.

I don't really have anything to contribute. I'm one of these people that thinks everyone should get a medal just for turning up.

You know who else has a big biological benefit in a lot of sports?
Left handers.
Letβs ban them all before they dominate the sports.

Can we just sack this off? A bunch of middle aged guys discussing this - however "allied" we are (or aren't) - is rank as fuck imo.

Ever since 2004 when the IOC allowed trans athletes to compete women's sport has been absolutely dominated by trans folk, look at this massive list of transwomen medallists:

Surely a bunch of mostly straight mostly white mostly middle aged mostly out of shape cis men are the perfect group to discuss and solve the question of trans athletes at the elite level.

I dunno. I think if we put our heads together we can crack this one.
And guess who'll be grateful? The women folk.
Real grateful.
Catch my meaning?

I'm going to make every post in this thread through the classic medium of having my belly button dictate the text to an enslaved trans athlete

Should ban all tomboys/ big handed people/small eared/small breasted/marge feet swimmers as they have a natural advantage.
?
Haha, fat fingers strike again!

Statistically there hasn't been any trans athletes dominating in the way critics claim. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/lia-thomas-trans-swimmer-ron-desantis-b2091218.html?ampIn the case of Lia Thomas, who was the most recent athlete that got people's knickers in a twist, she did win an event, with a time slower than the current record for that event. She also competed in other other events and finished 8th and 9th. Her performance since transitioning has fallen considerably, as it's a myth that trans athletes can continue to perform as well as they could pre- transition. That's the historical trend and data. In fact, Thomas's performance had dropped so much she won't have a chance against men. I'm not convinced this is the fairest approach, basically.

It's far from a fair approach, it's a vile policy that sounds 'reasonable' at first glance to most people who aren't informed about or invested in trans issues.
More sports governing bodies will follow in their footsteps with very similar bans, and along with a lot of governments looking to walk back trans rights and further restrict/ban trans healthcare for under-18's it's an effective ban on trans participation in sport going forward.
Effective bans on adult trans healthcare will soon follow and effective bans on trans participation in public life will eventually come in after that.

It's not just Seb Coe though it seems pretty obvious to me, Sharon Davis has long since supported this amongst others, I don't understand the logic in not supporting it. Ah, yes Sharon Davis. I read an article from her not that long ago. Linked from here, I believe. Well, I say I read it. I stopped after checking two statements she made in her opening paragraphs. First, she claimed Lia Thomas was over a foot taller than everyone else. Turns out, Lia is actually only 5ft8. She also went on to say that Lia was doing terrible in the men's ranking. This wasn't a lie as such, it just omitted the fact that this was while she was on HRT. Prior to this, she was competing at a high level successfully. Quick glance at Davis's twitter profile shows she is a Graham Linehan or JK Rowling like that is for some reason obsessional about the trans debate. She is regularly spouting attacks on the trans community with little evidence to back it up, so can safely be ignored.

I'm going to guess at "gender critical(s)", but that's a shot in the dark.

Like some other things, I can't quite understand why some people decide what's really wrong with the world and needs sorting out is trans athletes.
World hunger, war, poverty, inequality, cubby's lunches, corruption, bigotry - nope. Attacking trans people - yep!

I read something a few years back, by a South East Asian writer, I forget the details, nuance, or precise location, but the main point was that, historically, gender fluidity was a major part of their culture until the CATHOLIC CHURCH rolled around to stamp that out. There's probably more than one thesis to be gleaned from that.

World hunger, war, poverty, inequality, cubby's lunches, corruption, bigotry - nope. Attacking trans people - yep! Far easier to point and scream at individuals trying to live their lives in peace* than find solutions to societal problems. That's logically correct, even if it isn't the right thing to do. *like cubby and his (awfully boring) lunch
