If it's any consolation I'm now just remembering old adverts.
Interesting fact - the pretty cool music in this advert was taken (stolen) from the Gameboy version of Robocop.

I did something to my back last night. This morning I thought I might faint from pain when I got up to make breakfast, so I called the medical advice line and talked to a nurse. All the symptoms match a spinal disc herniation. If it is, it could take a few weeks, or months, or over a year to get better.
I didn't have an accident or a life or death battle against ninjas. I was drying myself after showering, lifted my leg, slipped just a little. Didn't fall, just a slittle slip, a dull cracking sound, a split second "oh fuck that's not right at all", then blinding pain and almost losing control of my legs.
What the hell body, is this how it is now? I'm just going to randomly cripple myself for no reason?

Been going for long walks on the weekend, roughly 20 miles over the two days, but now my shins hurt when I stretch my feet out.
Possibly shin splints, but those would typically be interior pain, this is anterior pain. Think it might be the muscle on the front of the shin, or the tendon.
It's not too bad but it's one of those aches where I feel compelled to keep stretching.

20 miles is a bit over 30 kilometers? That's a fair bit of walking if you're not used to it and a little aching sounds normal.

I guess it would be.
I've been doing 8-12 mile walks most weekends, but usually only on one day, not both.
I've also done 20 miles in a day a few times, but that's very infrequent.
Maybe doing an average of 10 miles is too ambitious. Need the exercise though.

Probably need a recovery/rest day or two.

Yeah, definitely have a rest between that amount of walking. That's a pretty hefty amount! I did an 11k walk yesterday and even that felt like a lot and I definitely wouldn't consider doing the same today.

Could you consider doing 8-12 miles on the Saturday, resting Sunday, and then three days where you pop out for 1-2 miles (assuming work/domesticity allows it). The shorter walks could be done briskly to increase exertion/reduce time, thats far from sedentary and would also take into account rest days.
If you were desperate to do something on the rest days do some pushups or something else that rests your legs.
I type this flat out on a chaise lounge after a giant bacon and sausage butty.

Yikes. Might be a brain worm.
Getting old is rubbish for random hairs though. And white ones seem really wiry for some reason too.

I have a couple of really coarse white hairs growing on my antitragus. They're quite thick and noticeable, have to trim them down.

Our boss at a former job wanted us to have "a nice day" together and go on "a little excursion" in a nearby nature reserve. He knew I'd been there and told me about the route he'd chosen. It was 25km through rough terrain, some bits went over bogs with just planks to balance on. I'd walked it before and it took me over 6 hours. He didn't see a problem with this, because "we have eight hours".
I managed to convince him of a 10km trail around some lakes instead, where I knew there were some shelters and a fireplace. It was nice day out, but a few people still struggled towards the end and one stayed home from work the day after.

I just pulled a two inch long white hair from inside my ear. Magnification mirror, tweezers and piece of tissue to dab them on. Fun times, especially the crunch noise when you pull them out. Bonus points for the plug on the end.

I wonder if I'm conscious of getting older as I'm now just past the age my Dad was when he knocked my mom up.
I wasn't planned so my folks were fairly old to be having kids by that generations standard, as he was 39. So I'm now at the age I saw adults as, when I was a kid.
Also aware that, using my dad as a genetic baseline,I'll start seeing a decline in physical health in my 70s, slow at first but the decline accelerating in the late 70s. Mental health declining slowly from late 70s too.
He's still able to get around but he can't walk as far anymore and noticing a few memory lapses.
Just quite conscious of getting older I think because of it.

This past six months alone has seen quite a few new grey hairs in my beard. Probably a good 25% now. Which is rubbish. I'm still struggling to actually consider myself as someone in his forties. It feels too weird. Because I don't feel any different inside. Because of that, the external signs of ageing are always quite alarming.

My facial hair is getting greyer. Head hair is showing a few more grey hairs too.
Got fed up of my long hair and shaved it off over the weekend, think the grey hairs are somehow more noticeable now, probably because the grey roots can't hide.

I'll always remember my (much) older brother mentioning his first grey pube and me thinking it's ages before I have to worry about anything like that.
Guess it's only a matter of time now... Still none on my beard too surprisingly (and I'll be 42 in a few days)

Yeah I have a few grey hairs on my head (and in my ears, apparently) but its the beard which is the issue, my beloved neck beard is pretty much entirely white. That and child induced sleep deprivation have really aged me over the last 5 years.
In my 30s I could pass for mid/late 20s most of the time but now think I actually look older than I am! The disparity between how old you look and how old you feel is really weird and not super good feeling.

Didn't like the grey beard hairs at first, but now that it's becoming more of a pattern of grey I'm actually starting to dig it. Finding my first gray chest hair was weird. For some reason I'd never had the thought that body hair will turn grey too, but of course it will. Only two or three so far though. No grey pubes yet!

I had my first grey pube a week or so ago actually. Think I'd blocked it out.
Freakishly long as well. Which is the first time I've looked down there and thought that.

I don't mind going grey at all.
One of my friends is very grey and she's marginally younger than me. Haven't teased her about it yet, but it's in the pocket if I need to do serious psychological damage.
I don't think she actually cares though so maybe it'd miss.
