If you read Plato or Aristotle you quickly realise that nothing radically new has been thought of for millennia. I think the concern here is that if AIs get to a point where we're trivial to them then where does that leave us, as pets at best? I don't recall Aristotle, Plato, Pythagoras or any of the musicians/composers of the time releasing a banger like Scooters seminal dance classic "How Much Is The Fish." |

I dunno even with just philosophy you've got Radical Doubt, Scientific Method, Empiricism (as Aristotle's version of these things are a fucking joke), even with basic logic you've got existential qualification and set theory, the ancient greek version being quite simplistic.

And apparently Russell Hobbes 4 slot toasters do the same thing. Iād be fine with if I just made a bad purchase and didnāt check the reviews, but what irks me is no-one else seems to have even noticed |

So, Iāve gone back over the whole Toastergate Saga Ā©ļøā¢ļøĀ®ļø, as we shall now call it, as I was sure I had misunderstood something.
You appear to be claiming that slots three and four only work if slots one and two are already in use, and, on your particular example, slots one and two no longer function correctly.
I think the reason that no one is complaining about this feature is that no one else has ever heard of it.
Are you SURE thatās how it was designed to work? Iāve never known anything like it.

EMarkM it has to be how itās designed to work, I canāt see how it could happen accidentally or due to damage. Add to that the fact that it definitely happens on toasters made by 2 different companies. Thatās just so, so weird  Iām trying hard, but I cannot think why a designer would consider this a positive feature. For anyone. The answer, of course, is always āmoneyā, but this seems to be a feature that would cost more to design and build in, and that literally no one ever would pay more for! |

When Im dictator of this country, I would standardise toaster settings. I have what my wife lovingly calls 'pussy toast' (because I toast my bread like a pussy) and its really tricky to dial that in on a new toaster.

I've yet to find a toaster that matches the toast done under a gas-fire grill.
I don't have a gas grill, so use a toaster, but it's just never as good. Yet to find a toaster that leaves the inner bread so fluffy.
