I eat toast about twice a year and that's only because it comes with a fry up.
Bread is shit. Why make it worse by drying it out? Only to slather on a layer of animal fat to make it edible.
Fuck toast.

Nah. Toast is lovely stuff when slathered with proper butter. One of the best things about spring is that your butter isn't constantly in a state where rips toast to shreds when you try to spread it.

dfunked Ever tried a french butter keeper? Most of them are round, but I've also seen some that let you mash a regular stick of butter into it. Pretty good solution in my opinion, just have to keep it in a cabinet somewhere, so that it doesn't get too warm and melts down into the water.

A local bakery here (since closed down) made the nicest grinder bread (white, crusty, L shaped)
I used to get a loaf, cut it in half (making two skinnier Ls) toast it, butter it and eat it in one go. Two giant slices l.
It was absolute heaven. If I ever see that bread again I would walk through fire to buy it. Just to go back to my childhood again, and happier times

I know I don’t eat bread anymore, but I’m way out of my depth here: what the damnedy heck is grinder bread?
And why is it L-shaped?

Well, on the plus side, that’s a proper butter knife. I have two, inherited from my parents.
I remember hearing that the definition of a true gentleman is one who uses a proper butter knife, even when alone.
I always do.
M’lady.

Looks billowy and pillowy. Approved. You're on the list. The good list. The bread got quite doughy when toasted, and so had all the varieties of textures and densities a person would want in a slice of toast. It cannot be topped.

My toaster mysteriously fixed itself, so now it's back to being just stupidly designed rather than completely useless. Great to see we're still talking about toast in the AI thread. Might start a toast thread for next time I have something to say about AI.

It fitted the counters in the old kitchen and it works really well.
