Iconic video game sex symbol Ellie. π¬
She was designed precisely in a way for her to not be sexualized, but creeps gonna openly be creeps I guess.

These people never have and never will have any sexual relations with a woman so perving over pixels is the best they'll get.

C'mon now, we all thrashed one out to Ps1 Lara Croft back in the day, I was actually a bit disappointed that real boobies weren't that angular.
I wonder what lists I'm on... π€£

What was it, Tomb Raider III? Where you played a bit as young Lara?

No duff, that's a standalone game coming at some point in the future. They are fleshing it out quite a bit so it has a story despite being a multiplayer game.
They haven't shown more than a piece of concept art though so expect a long wait.

I was planning a LOU1 rerun soon, and considering how awesome PS5 UC4 was, I'm day 1 on this.

I'm on the fence with this one, I've played part 1 at least four times all the way through (DLC twice I think) and until part 2 released it was my all-time favourite game. I could have been tempted at a replay for a lower price, but it's too steep for me I think. I know the development justifies the price, I'm not saying it's not worth it, but as much as I love it, do I really need to replay again? I think if the Factions MP was included that would have sealed the deal, but I totally understand why they didn't.

All the design, story, directing, scripts, voicing acting (I maybe wrong on this) locations etc. etc. have already been done and costed into the first PS3 release. They then got a second bite of the cherry with the PS4 release. Now they are doing it again. I swear some games developers (specifically ND) get some kind of golden pass when they pull arsehole tricks like rereleasing a PS3 game for Β£70.00.

I don't think the price is down to ND here.

They're not just simply doing a copy pasta job. Okay, maybe I was a tad too kind there about the price, but they've not just spent a couple of hours on it.

I don't think the price is down to ND here. that's another version of the golden pass... If they said to Sony it has to release for Β£40.00, it would happen.

Again, I don't think the developer in this case has a say on how much the product will be sold for. That's Sony through and through.

I think they redid the performances. I could be wrong as I haven't been following the announcement closer than merely watching the trailer, but articles relating to it have had images of older than 2013 Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson in mocap suits.

Story, scripts and acting is available from before but everything else is built from scratch. New models, animation, assets, lighting, ai, etc, It's not a small undertaking.
Look at the recent Bluepoint games - Shadow of the Colossus or Demon's Souls - for example. The TLoU content is newer but the process is the same.

I mean let's meet somewhere in the middle then, it's certainly not nothing in terms of work, but it's not building a game from absolute scratch. But unless we see the PnL we're not going to know just how much they're taking us consumers for granted. As Todd Howard remarked on the constant re-releasing of Skyrim "you stop buying it, we'll stop doing it". I've been trying to find more info on what has gone into the game 'development' and it does seem like there is some new work on animations and characters models, there is an unknown as to how to DLC has been built into this version, there is 3D audio work and haptic funtionality (feedback and triggers) for the dualsense as well as gameplay improvements (and more accessbility options). I'm certainly not impressed with the deluxe proce point for some in-game bonuses and a speed-run mode.

Everything will have been redesigned to work within the new engine and at greater fidelity. That's new pre-prod and production phases, with concept teams and content teams: 3D and texture work, lighting, audio, all the gameplay improvements, UI, etc, etc. You'll then have art and game direction making changes because of the result of all of those things and trying to make a better game than the earlier versions of it - the game is "the same" but it's all still essentially new (you can see this in the trailer they showed - different character models, lighting, background assets (big things like buildings and small things like furniture) and subtle directional changes in scenes). On the back end of all of that you have QA and marketing too.

Can't remember them mentioning that in the Sony showcase (although could be wrong). They did mention that they've managed to get improved animations out of the existing facial captures, though. Probably just websites being lazy and using a TLOU2 mocap image.
