She could also in theory commit any imaginable crime she wanted - possibly anywhere in the world - and escape punishment. The law literally does not apply to her and we rely on her good behaviour. It's a bit iffy to make it a race thing Yeah it's a bit iffy to make it a race thing from a family that lost its collective shit because one of them married a biracial woman.

I think the bigger issue with Megan was that she was American, worked in entertainment and came with baggage.
Send her to a private school and have her from a higher class, I think there's less issues.

Much worse than say, shagging underage girls then paying them off with millions from her majesty’s subjects.

The baggage was her being a fully established, autonomous human and not a compliant stepford wife. The royalists just wanted her to shut up and have kids.

If she could have changed her ethnicity then yeah there would have been 'less issues'.

The baggage was a previous divorce, public profile, family issues, repeatedly outspoken on things.
All stuff the institution doesn't like. "Never complain, never explain". It was never going to work. Their ideal is Kate Middleton - good stock, keeps quiet, family onside, knows the game.

Honestly, I hardly read it. BBC news for the headlines but that's it. I couldn't tell you half the royals. But, no, I don't really read/ know things written by the Sun, Mail, etc. Occasionally I might see something on the Guardian website but that's about it. No interest in national papers.
Feel free to link me to things.

To be fair, I am of the opinion that if MM was as white as the driven snow, she would still have taken shit from the general public. Different shit and probably not as much but the British public feel they have an ownership of the Royal Family, like they are dancing monkeys here for our entertainment and if anyone who doesnt toe the line that middle aged white women draw in the sand, they are 'ungrateful', 'rude' and all the other things she got labelled.
Shut the fuck up, put on a nice dress and look pretty. Thats your job. You arent here to give us your opinion. Its why they love the queen so much because she never actually says anything. I called them the British Kardashians a few years ago at work and the office royalist had quite the hissy fit but I do absolutely stand by that.

Of course she would have taken shit, but if we're talking about her biggest issue it was DEFINITELY due to her 'tan'.

We were watching the news and the oldest one wandered into shot in a full suit and my daughter scoffed 'heh, nerd' at him. Poor little fuckers. Just let them play pokemon and watch cartoons, ffs.

It wasn't that Twitter thread but another last night that was full of mostly American women going on about respect and that they'd never have let their 4 year old do that etc. It's bollocks, all kids play up when bored. Should have given them a screen like the rest of us.

I'm fairly indifferent to their existence.
I find the idea of Royalty absurd as I do people showing reverence at meetings or introductions. Ohhhh you're so rich and majestic and I'm but a simple commoner. Da Fuck!?!
I can understand people being in awe of Artists, Athletes or Musicians for example but a member of the Royal family?
That to me is some medieval stupidity.

I've seen plenty of articles about how him covering his ears or "being cheeky" is somehow adorable and something to be fawned over, but I just find him annoying. Kids just aren't that likable at the best of times.
Kid acts like a kid shouldn't be newsworthy, but because he was squeezed out by some toff couple the nation needs to know, apparently.

That parade was boring AF for an adult.
As was watching cunts on horses.
I can't imagine how boring it must be if you're 5 years old.

The royals definitely have some lobbying powers. Liz has seemingly not used hers that much - or at least it's not been reported much - but Charles had his black spider memos so it seems likely be won't be quite so neutral.
Charles really can fuck off with his homeopathy.

On principle just no.
However I'd never actually bother advocating for it to go in a manifesto or anything, or even bothering to publicly burnish my republican credentials in public.

Is there any way we can scrap the royals and not have a president? I'm no fan of the firm but the idea of having a head of state elected by popular vote fills me with dread. You can do what you like. There's no need to dread a president though, there's lots of different versions of republic to try. For example, just curtail their powers to not being being allowed to comment on politics (using your fancy new constitution) and you're good. The good presidents then go on to be some kind of barometer of the mood of the people and continue for as many terms as your constitution permits (max of 2 is a good idea, I reckon). The shit ones get dumped due to failing their jobs, and the meh ones get either one or two terms depending on whatever conditions are at play. David Attenborough, John Major, the Harry formerly known as prince, or David Beckham, it doesn't really matter. They do their job and put their own slant on it but the job is the same.

For the monarchy to survive after Liz, Charles needs to hand it straight to Will imho.... they need to attempt to appeal to younger generations and Charlie ain't gonna do that. 20+ years of him could be the end of it. I can see Will potentially reviving and modernising a flagging monarchy (don't ask me how), whether that's good or bad is another matter entirely.

I suppose it could work if Will promises that none of his family will rape any more kids.

He'd have to put Andrew's head on a spike on London Bridge for anyone to take that pledge seriously.

And the current prime minister famously referred to 'picanninies' with 'watermelon smiles' in his newspaper column, so if you think there isn't any racism in the establishment any more I'd say you're being a bit naive.
