New trailer ahead of this series Not gonna lie - this looks awesome! I thought the guys at the end of Obi Wan (the ones that helped him and Leia) were the start of the rebellion? Is this set at the same time as that? I'm confused....

That was kind of the point of Rogue One, the rebellion at that time was a coalition of factions, each with their own reasons for rebelling and way of doing it. This looks like it'll delve into that side a lot more.

I think this is also set around the same time frame as Obi-Wan was
It’ll be interesting to see how much this is flavored like Rogue One. Be informative as to how much of R1 was because of Garett Edwards and how much this one’s show runner contributed to the film during its reshoots and final edit

The trailers certainly look very good, and I really like the step away from from classic Jedi-and-lightsabers Star Wars. Looks a lot like R1.
Not fussed that we know the outcome for Andor himself. Doesn’t stop the story, hopefully, being decent and the journey being engaging. Plenty of movies and shows are successful knowing how the lead fares early doors.

I didn’t realise this was 12 episodes. Hopefully they can avoid filler, they’ve got enough good talent involved.

Looks alright, but why on earth bother to tie it in with him? I can’t think of an existing a Star Wars film character I could give any less of a shit about. Latin market is 1000% the answer to this question.

I may subscribe once again for a month once the season (or all of it) is available to binge.

Was thinking the mountains at the start looked a bit Scottish at the start, then remembered my cousin posting pictures of what he thought was Star Wars filming while hillwalking a while ago, and it is!

While Rogue One is my favourite of the Disney era Star Wars movies (and my second fave of all the SW films) I wasn't particularly excited by this being announced but the latest trailer certainly looks to be doing the right things.

Why did the guy at the start have a friggin AK variant?!?! Yeah should have gone for an STG so it's the same era as what the E-11 was based on.

Rogue sometimes percolates to the top and beats Jedi as my favorite all time SW movie. I do think it’s tendentious of the universe feels the most Star Wars of the lot. It’s just so full of hard edges, no warm and inviting forest moons or sand dunes. With Andor I hope my brain doesn’t take too long to stop thinking of the de-aging in every frame

Rogue One is the only Star Wars film that actually feels like there's an actual war happening, rather than adventure films with a war as a backdrop.
The Battle of Scarif is fantastic.

it's that point where you compare it to the Battle of Naboo which was designed for 5 year olds

Makes me excited for this series. Scarif was apparently where the show runner’s reshoots and editing had the greatest impact on the final product

I would unironically love a Jar Jar series. The spin-off books (which are now canon, of course) revealed that after the rise of the Empire, Jar Jar was blamed for his involvement (being the one who proposed giving the Chancellor emergency powers in the first place) and was again exiled by the Gungans, spending his days working as a clown on the streets of Naboo. There's so much tragic potential there, backed up metafictionally by the fact that Ahmed Best had a simply terrible time in the wake of the Binks backlash, up to the point where he considered taking his own life (he's much better now, and very happy to engage with Star Wars again). It's a hell of a needle to thread, making it funny (which it'd have to be, really) but not as OTT as Phantom Menace, but also adding the pathos and melancholy of what we now know about Jar Jar's life. But imagine if someone pulled it off? It'd be fantastic. Can't remember if I posted about it here or not, but the original story arc for Jar Jar was he was going to reveal himself as the big bad at some point, but fan backlash caused Lucas to bin that screenplay and shoehorn Count Dooku into the mix instead. I'd have actually had some respect for the entire prequel trilogy if it went down the sith lord Jar Jar route.

When they de-aged Cassian, I hope they were tempted to give him really bad sun burn. Rouge One could have finally been considered acceptable.

It's a fun theory, but I really can't see it making sense to have a dark lord of the sith spend years bumbling around a gungan city just in the hope that some jedi might show up.

Yeah, it’s a fan theory. It’s true that both Lucas and Ahmed Best have said that Jar Jar was supposed to have bigger roles in the sequels but pulled his story because everyone hated him in Ep 1, but there’s zero real world evidence that says he was supposed to be a sith or any kind of bad guy.

“Some of it’s true, some of it’s not true, I can’t really answer the question, only Lucas knows” doesn’t sound particularly on point to me, it sounds like vague headcanon playing with the fans.

The extended scene that came online for D23 looked so good. I really hope this show break the mold like the film it’s derived from.
