I thought dead island 2 was quite a lot of fun, it's never going to be a classic but the combat was fun and some of the weapons were great. Morning mate Did you solo or co-op, I might get a mate or two to join, might be better that way. I don't hate it, (hence my 5 hours yesterday) it is just very average at least a the moment. Of these style of games I think Dying Light 1 is by far the best. One thing are my ears playing tricks on me or does it have the same sample of music as RE ? To be fair it took a few hours before DI2 got it's rotten teeth into me. I actually abandoned it for a few months before going back to it. When I did though something just clicked and I absolutely loved it. Still love it. You're right though, Dying Light 1 will always be top. Currently I'm at: Dying Light 1 Dead Island 2 Dying Light 1 - The Following
Dead Island 1 Dying Light 2 Dead Island Riptide

When the Ghost of Tsushima DLC launched, it added a few new control schemes to the game (plus an optional lock-on mechanic). They also released a free patch for the PS4 version that included these options. Could be worth checking out if the default controls aren't to your liking, Jambowayoh and dfunked? Not really. It is what it is. I still enjoyed it though. I'm hoping there's a bit more polish in the sequel though.

I played solo duff as I wasn't sure if the Mrs would have liked it to play it co-op

I know it's a few years old now, but I've been super addicted to Dicey Dungeons on mobile - actually bought it on Switch a while back, but downloaded the Android version using spare Google credit and it's such a perfect fit for phones. It's a cracking little roguelike/card/dice game, with so much gameplay variety in the different characters and scenarios, and runs don't take longer than 15-20mins so perfect to dip in and out of.
I'm excited to try Balatro too at some point. Don't think I've gamed so much on mobile since the early iOS app store days.

Finished Broken Sword.
Still a classic though the game did crash about 4 times throughout including during the after credits scenes which I've not seen before so will need to go watch on YouTube.

Hellblade 2
Obviously looks bloody lovely in places, but the sound design is something else altogether. Top tier stuff! Combat is a little pants as usual, and once again feels like it's there to pad out a 4 hour game.

I've nearly grabbed it on Switch a few times, but it does sound like it'd be a better fit on mobile.

Just started Days Gone (PS4), I know. Seems....crafty. Amazed how good it looks actually, considering it's up for a remaster/remake? Bike default sensitivity was off the scale shit!
Melee weapons are giving me Condemned flashbacks.
Seems good so far.

I really enjoyed Days Gone. I've played through it twice. A sequel could have smoothed out a lot of the rough edges. Once you upgrade the bike some it becomes a lot of fun to drive around in the bigger areas of the map.

Does it get to hold more than a thimbleful of petrol? It was ridiculous at the start. I really should give that a proper chance. I enjoyed what I played, but just got to an enemy encampment and wasn't in the mood for a Far Cry 3 style camp clearing

I intend on finishing Days Gone at some point. The story just made me go REALLY? I don't think I need to explain that either ha.

One of the few open world games where I went and did absolutely everything on the map before putting it down.

Up to Chapter 20 and pushing on 80 hours or so in Fire Emblem Echoes The stages are so varied and it constantly throws new scenarios at you. There's rarely ever a straight 'kill the boss' objective without some interesting wrinkle. Every time I think the game has thrown its nastiest trick at me, it has something else waiting up its sleeve. This one is a stage shrouded in darkness, so you can barely see any enemies, and a teleporting boss. Definitely makes you stop and think about how you're going to approach a level and which units to take with you I'm finding Hard difficulty just about right for me. A good challenge and so many stages have gone right down to the wire with me having used up all my chances to rewind time. I don't think I'd have got as far as I have without using that feature - at least it would have taken me much longer. The game will sometimes just throw 2 bosses at you at the same time with multiple health bars, meaning even if you do enough damage to get their health down to something like 4, the next attack can do 50 damage but it'll still only do the 4 damage for the current health bar and doesn't carry over to the next one. It's basically like having to defeat them multiple times (and they usually power up after the first bar). It takes some doing to manage those situations, especially with adds and reinforcements at the same time The Fire Emblem games used to be quite chill with enemies generally waiting for you to move close enough to pull them at your own pace. The newer ones are so much more aggressive and you're often getting rushed down. This is good because it's harder and you have to think ahead a lot more but also bad because I am shit and die Have to say, the bits between missions are wearing a bit now. It just adds so much time for something that has nothing to do with what I'm playing Fire Emblem for, especially with all the running around and loading required between areas. And the mini games- I can super live without a shit Panzer Dragoon mini game or push ups or fishing, And they all take ages as well. I've just stopped doing most of them but I'm missing out on the little benefits you get for doing them (slight increase to stats, free stuff) And that fucking well. My advice is to just sell whatever you don't want and ignore the well completely. I've thrown so much in there and very often get worse items back. Throw a silver weapon in and get a novelty cake themed one back that has way worse stats Also I have seen barely any money since the first half of the game. My second piece of advice would be to just spend your money on weapons as I'm not sure what benefits I've really had from raising the levels of the various regions and I've hardly needed to run any skirmishes so can't make use of the potential pittance gold you can get due to the increased region levels the skirmishes take place in
It won't happen but I'd love for them to just go back to successive stages without all the stuff in between. If people want all that shit, just play Animal Crossing

Just release the next Fire Emblem game in two parts you can buy separately. One with just the battles and nothing in between. And the other with no battles but all the weird hentai touching games you could ever want.

But yeah, Engage is probably my favourite one in quite a while. I gave not a single shit about the story, and couldn't tell you the name of any of the characters if you put a gun to my head. But the map design and bond system is great.

I've been enjoying Warhammer 40k Darktide (on PC Game Pass)
Feels good to play and easy to pick up. Not sure I'll stick with it for long but it's a decent casual multiplayer shooter to play with random. I'd imagine it's pretty frustrating if you're trying to do something specific or taking it all seriously though...

Metal Gear Solid: a pure blast of nostalgic joy that reminded me of why I love it so much...until I got to the Rex fight. God that sucks. The game is pretty straightforward until then but even with all the tricks (chaff, stun, hiding behind a pillar and firing the stinger in phase 1, staying underneath it in phase 2), it's a significant step up in difficulty from any boss fight or scenario preceding it, and I just don't have enough rations; yes, there's one top left, and one bottom right, but by the time you've got to them, you've lost enough health for it not to be worth it.
Parked it, as I always do after I've done a boss fight more than ten times. I used to be good - well, okay - at games. Now I suck.

A bit of everything at the moment.
Cyberpunk DLC on PS5 well over 90 hours in on this save.
SBK22 on PC having just tested the superbike 24 mod out. It's excellent.
Last of Us part 1 on PS5 part of the PS+ subscription catalogue. I'd have never got the game otherwise as I've completed it on the PS3, PS4 and then again on PS5 before the 2nd game was released and here I am again. Does look great though.

Faster than me. Finished spain and just got to Syria. And I'm at 7h Got little stuck in Spain. Took ages to figure out what to do to see the old lady. And how to open manhole cover next to church. Definitely 1h of playing around!

I've gone for Mario & Rabbids 2 and only on the second planet but so far it's been really enjoyable.
I do prefer the setting of the first game but there's a lot more variety in the sequel.

pierrepressure Even though combat re-uses the same mini-stages, it creates plenty of room to experiment with your team (which have much greater variety in this one), so it doesn’t feel repetitive. Some combinations are practically game-breakingly good, but I saw that as a reward for mixing things up all the time.
