I'm about 20 hours into Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. I was really enjoying it, but I'm starting to find it a bit of a slog now. I really like the world they've created, the storylines are generally interesting - with a lot of genuinely grey decisions to make - and the voice acting, etc is really good. But the gameplay is really repetitive, there's a lot of back and forth and the combat is pretty poor.
Not sure whether to just try and rush through the main storyline now, or park it for a bit and play something else.

RDR2 replay is getting it's hooks into me. Just got to the first camp and gone of to explore, the world is just incredible still.
Think it is in with a shout of my favourite game ever.

in the before times, across the count of time, down the long haul into history back, people would occasionally replay Mad Max and spam up the 'ol rps forum's screenshot thread
thanks to chronic insomnia and fury road being on telly a few nights ago the before times are upon us once again
just something awesome about harpooning some guy's doors off before nitro boosting up his backside and re-reading that sentence nah fuck it press post

Current season of Fortnite looks very Mad Max, if you're into that kind of thing.
I am, but I'm also taking a break from Fortnite so I haven't tried it. (plus I don't have the disk space for it)

System Shock It's really fucking good. It's probably up there now as one of the best games I have. It's just done so well, and it's scary, and it's quite bloody hard at times. It's put me in a sci-fi horror kind of mood so I've reinstalled Alien Isolation and Prey as well. And maybe Dead Space. What I did do was fire up A:I yesterday and actually go through the Last Surivivor bit of DLC (the second Ripley one). Had never actually managed ot do it befre but stuck it on hard and just went for it. Managed to finish it and ended up stunned, still, at how a near 10 year old game could look and sound so damn good. The last bit when you've hit the self-destruct and you're legging it to the shuttle. There's steam everywhere, emergency lights and sirens. It looks INCREDIBLE. You know what else blows my tiny mind? My contract was up on my old iphone SE. Ended up getting a 15 pro for only a tenner more a month. Thought, as I've never bothered to get one of the "good" iphones, that I'd give it a try. My fucking phone can run Alien Isolation now. My. Phone. I mean. What's up with that. How does the SS remake control on console/gamepad? Specifically inventory management
I was going to get it on release but heard that it uses the analogue stick for menuing, which I don't think I can be arsed with
That's so cool about your new phone- I hope you are taking lots of selfies. Have you got insta yet

Nightmare of decay. Indie horror resident evil homage fun in a mansion.
Its got gash graphics - think original software quake type but it doesn't matter - it's a good laugh and has quite a few nice qol touches
And it's only 4 quid on steam

Material Defender Welcome back, AA! On topic, I finally started my Elden Ring NG+ run tonight, in lieu of anything else to play.

The actual final mission of Advanced Wars. What an incredible difficulty spike. Possibly the largest I can ever recall. I have spent nearly 6(!) hours trying to figure out this last mission. That’s a 3rd of my overall playtime.
You can’t sit back as the enemy just keeps spawning units until the game struggles to decide its own turns. So I keep pushing, but it seems like without some form of luck early on you get locked into a battle to see who can replenish their units quickest.
I’ve looked at a guide (which I rarely ever do) and it’s like getting advice for a different game. If I follow instructions my units get destroyed before I am able to do the next steps. If I watch a video online there are clear cuts in footage where days have been repeated as something has not worked out.
Honestly, I’m not even frustrated. I’m just bewildered. I don’t think I have ever been this stuck in a game before. And these are long rounds. If you fail, it’s at least an hours worth of play down the toilet. This is asking for a ton of patience.

Yeah, that mission is absolutely rough. I did it through spamming cheap infantry and (eventually) choking his economy and overwhelming him with numbers, but it's hard to get over that initial hurdle. He has a *lot* of units at the start.

He has a *lot* of units at the start. Thats the strategy I seem to keep slipping into, so it’s good to hear I’m kinda doing the right thing. It just feels wrong because you’re just slowly grinding out the win. I quit my first two attempts for this reason. I couldn’t shake the feeling I was missing something obvious.

Well, if you missed it, I missed it too. It took me a long time to finish that thing.

Stela
started it a while ago and its Inside/limbo style game, its quite good although they need to improve the jumping as it feels like there is a delay which can lead to some cheap deaths. Nice art style

Mad Max
After a disappointing conclusion to my FFXV play through I wanted another open world game but different. This seems to fit the bill and has got off to an impressive start.

Diablo 4 has finally got its hooks into me. Previous versions of the game have never clicked but now I get the appeal, basically you need to get to the point where it's just the right side of absolute chaos and you nail a build with the right combination of skills and kit to really fuck things up and every so often get something new that synergizes well enough to make it noticeably better.
Think it's down to the loot and pace changes in the latest update, and particularly making helltides accessible from the get go.
Also feels a lot more multiplayer without really trying, whereas before you'd just occasionally cross paths briefly with someone else, now you get stuck into big battles in groups and it's utter carnage.
Actual fun, good timing to have this update ready around the same time as releasing on game pass, though I do kind of wish I hadn't paid £60 for it for the privilege of playing when it wasn't as good!

I just downloaded this with the intention of picking up where I left off. But I honestly have no idea where I left it. I think I’m somewhere near the end but buggered if I can remember what has happened. Tempted to start again but it’s just such a long game…

A bit of T ricky Towers on PC. Good fun Tetris-based battling. Not sure how it'd hold up in single-player or if it will keep interest for long, but it's definitely fun to screw over your friends/family by dropping a giant stone block on them. ...Wait, that doesn't sound right. Son has become obsessed with Minecraft Dungeons, which is basically a Diablo-like. I've been roped in to a few 2-player co-op games and it seems fun, if visually chaotic. I've had a few moments where I thought I was fighting in the middle of a mass of enemies, but I'd actually died ages ago. Main hook seems to be getting new enchantable weapons/armour every ten seconds and trying to make cool combos with them. The only problem is you'll spend a while making a really cool combo set, then pick up a better set of armour and have to start all over because that has different enchantment options. Not sure how much staying power it'll have, but fun enough.

I've been waiting ages for a ps5 upgrade and gave up. And then was amazed how ggod it still looks now, especially when there's a storm or fire off in the distance.
